Found one locally for very cheap. Wondering what you guys think about it. I've been GASsing for one for ages. What appeals to me the most is that I can change the modules and change the sound if I so desire. What are your impressions, if you have tried or own it?

Oh the allure of the MTS
It can be a money pit

This. It seems like a terrific idea. The next thing you know you have 8 modules and a list of others you "need". They do sound good though. Heavy. I mean like supernova heavy.

I love mine and after a few years have settled on three modules. Prior to that, I was buying, selling, trading, and modding modules constantly.

If you know the general tones you want and can keep yourself from feeling the need to try all of the modules, I say go for it. If not, proceed with caution if cash is tight.

Good solid amps.. not a huge fan of hammet's modules but with a stock plexi, a clean and a lightly modded SL+, you will prob have all the tones you ever want. (which can compete with more expensive amps)No need for tons of expensive modded modules but you can go that route if you like heading down the money pit ! The loop sucks.. it is line level so forget your pedals. Even at that, it is touchy between how you set the volume on the module. I find the amps sound the best with the modules opened up at the expense of the loop sometimes.

The amp itself is fine, but the modules are pretty boring compared to the other stuff out there.

Heavy as a mother!!! Hope you have a roadie.

Most of the stock modules are not that great. There are a few modders out there that are knocking it out of the park though. Some big names are recording and touring with their wares.

Yup.

I had one of Pete's Recto mods - BLEW MY MIND! The only stock ones I kinda dug were the Lynch models.

Love mine but definitely an addiction....currently have:

MOD50, RM50, RM100LB, a handful of stock modules and probably 7 or 8 modded ones..LOL

The stock Lynch modules really do sound great though (Friedman handiwork)....I really liked the stock Tweed and later model SL+ too.

Definitely a money pit if you gas for the modules. I lost count at 25 and have 2 heads. Have had several others and RM4's. Don't believe that they are built solid, as far as I am concerned never try and tour or play out with one of these heads unless you have a backup. They are prone to failure. Many many issues, main tube board arcing is one of many. They also have lots of small fuses that are a bitch to replace when they go. And they do go. I'm sure the fanboys will blast me but just telling the facts. If you want more info PM me or look at my posts (and many others) regarding issues on the Randall MTS forum. I still love them but I hate them too.

Friedman brahma is bitchin. I added a gain stage to another brahma and that one is tight and juicy, no pedals needed and it kicks ass. Stock Judge is pretty good too. I didn't like the scary as much and the KH-2 is a bit woofy/fizzy for my tastes.
