Never thought I would get one of these as I hated the DSL401 and don't like the Asian DSL head either but jammed on a DSL40C today and was pretty impressed. It's not very good as a channel switcher but for home use it had quite the variety of Marshall tones on board. Really dug how when the Ultra gain channel is up it sounds like a fuzz, but a useable fuzz. I had read years ago that Fu Manchu started using DSL heads live because they had their sound in the box and sure as shit it's pretty accurate. Dial the gain back to 10' Oclock or less and spanky, hard rock goodness is there. Very Bright but Treble and Presence set very low did the trick. Speaker swap might also help.

I Like that they did a resonance knob as opposed to a fixed value like on the older heads. Decided to jump on some Black Friday discount, plus No interest promo shenanigans. Also ordered a cab grabber for micing up. Anyone using one? Any good? I might be on a cheap import roll as I played a Bugera Trirec lately and thought it was pretty awesome in the recto vein. I certainly thought it was better, plug straight in, no pedal option than an actual Recto.

This will be the first new Marshall I have bought since 1996. I got new because I wanted the warranty (not familiar with Asian Marshall quality) and it was the only way to get the sexy cream tolex with the old school grill. I haven't been looking for a Marshall lately but I guess it was looking for me!

*EDIT*

It landed tonight! Real quick out of the box noodle with my Junior. Pretty happy with it.

my roadie...

Nice! That cream tolex is awesome! I've been thinking for a while about pulling the trigger on one of these at
Sweetwater with the creamback upgrade. I like that they switched to the el34's instead of the 84's. Let us know what
you think about it!

That Sweetwater one with the creamback is $50 less too. I probably wouldnt have given a black one much consideration but the cream tolex and grill put me over the top. I was recently trying 2K plus amps at a smaller shop and couldn't tell you I would have taken any of them over the Marshall.

Completely different animal from the 401. EL34s vs EL84s. The tone is worlds apart.

I was torn between the white one and the Sweetwater version with the upgraded speaker. I ultimately went with the speaker upgrade and am glad I did.

Happy NAD!

I've got quite a few different speakers at home so experimenting with choices is on for sure.

Man, MF is really taking the shine off this deal. They separately shipped a piece of my order to the wrong address and I've tried calling them three times today. Hold times were too long to stay on the phone while trying to work. I've currently been on hold for 30 minutes and they will be closed before someone picks up. I used their email and got no reply, even from an automated "We got your query" email. When I had shit in my cart and had questions they picked up within minutes. Even offered live chat. No live chat for just regular customer service I guess. How much god damn time time do they expect us to waste for something they can fix in a few minutes! Just glad it's not the amp going to the wrong address.

Sorry you’re dealing with the bullshit but congrats on your new amp. The look is a nice upgrade over Black I think

Wow that sounds fantastic! Congrats...that is killer 70s tone in a box for sure.

And that was a real quick dial in. The heavy sounds with a humbucker guitar are pretty good too.
