Rant: Synthesizer Makers, it's 2016!

I'm looking at semi-modular and modular synths that I want to control with a MIDI (5-pin or USB) controller. Why do many of the current modern synth makers only provide CV / Gate?

e.g., Roland's new System-500 (no 5-pin/usb MIDI) vs. Moog's new Mother-32 (has 5-pin MIDI)

Only a few new MIDI controllers (thanks, Akai!) have CV/Gate, but I don't need or want yet another keyboard controller, nor do I want to have to buy a MIDI to CV / Gate converter!



It's 2016! MIDI 5-pin at least, if not MIDI USB. WTF?!

Guitar players are not allowed to b*tch about antiquated technology; they worship it. Those 5pin connectors have the mad toan.

The Moog Mother-32 is on my short list, and has 5-pin MIDI.

Dave Smith is a bit more than I want to spend.

I also dig the Make Noise kit....their upcoming 0-Coast is on my GAS list, but again no 5-pin or USB MIDI
