Ratio Tuners

Seems like a neat idea. I'm a 7-string guy, and it drives me nuts that just breathing on the 7th string's tuner causes a massive jump. But I've never had a problem with the higher strings and don't think I'd like a 12:1 ratio there.

Hipshot open-gear locking tuners are the best I've used.

Hipshots are great. I think I prefer some of the Gotoh locking staggered Kluson style tuners, but I have several with open gear Hipshots.

But I do like this idea of having a really high ratio for the lowest strings.

I'd go with these, long before I'd try the Ratio tuners. IMO non-locking tuners are obsolete.

They make the Ratios in standard, open back and locking.
I'm very fond of Hipshot products. I have one of their tremolos
and it's wonderful. I don't understand the benefit of open tuners though.
Wouldn't that just allow them to get dirty and hard to turn?
I haven't made up my mind yet, but the idea of locking Ratio tuners makes a lot of sense to me.
