As a birthday present to myself did a complete retube on Einstein combo last week.
Diezel HG+ 678 in V1 and stock/reccomended tubes as listed in all other pre-amp sockets.
New pair of Ruby EL-34 BHT for power. I bought these as spares/replacements prior to the KT-77 debate.
Have to say the amp sounds amazing and I can 100% vouch for the benefits of a complete re-tube. Think the Diezel hand selected V1 tube has really added something. First gig tonight......
I was rather disappointed however to find in my order of brand new tubes 1 DOA HG+ and 1 HG+ that went microphonic in less than an hour of playing in V2.
Negotiating a return with Wolfton at the moment but its possibly a little difficult as I bought them as spares in Sept. Note to self, test in future when received perhaps? Thought they were supposeed to be tested though?
Out of interest anyone else using anything different in V2 and having good results with Channel 2?
