My opinion. Dickey Betts was a MAJOR member of the Allman Bros. Band was great w/ him and Haynes. Haynes and Trucks? I say good riddance.
Hopefully they get Dickey back w/ Andy Aledort (who plays w/ Dickey's band along w/ Dickey's son)

Lots of bad blood between Greg & Betts from what I remember. At their age, stubborness will not allow that reunion to happen.

Trust me you guys don't want Dickey back in the band. I love the guys playing, but I saw him last summer and he was a mess. Fucked up Ramblin Man of all songs, forgot the verses, I didnt even know what song he was playing until he hit the chorus. Total train wreck. The guy is old and obviously has substance issues. I saw him maybe three years ago and he was amazing. Needless to say the last show was very sad. Maybe Dickeys son Dwayne,now that kid is good.

I offered an opinion having been a long time fan of the band. Betts' voice, IMO was integral to their sound. I thought Betts and Haynes was great. Betts may have been sacked for whatever reason, but his own band w/ Andy Aledort and Bett's son sounds fine. It would be a no brainer to get those guys in the Allmans.

I also agree that Bett's was a huge part of the Allman Bros sound. I pretty much quit listening to them after he left even though I am a huge Warren Haynes fan!!!
