Reason #54 why I don't vote

I'll never vote. Never have. As for wounded warrior project last I heard they were anti-gun and I can't really get on board with orgs like that.
I gave to them in the past, along with other vet orgs but the scandle of WW holding extravagant meetings in the Bahamas and other means of wasting funds ended that. I can appreciate them raising awareness via their ads but not another dime from me...i even tossed their swag i had received in the past. I prefer DVA, VFW and American Legion.
WW may be reconfigured and appropriating more funds to actually helping vets but they lost my support.
I always realize that if not for the grace of God, i could very easily be a disabled vet, I'm forever grateful for that.

Not voting when people fought and died for my right to do it is not an option for me. I have a bunch of ex military friends , guys I shoot long distance with and hang with but 2 standout. Carlton Hooper was a tunnel rat in Nam, he was a bit older than me but we hung out a lot. He only spoke of his service and going into the tunnels 1 time in all those years, but that 2 hours of conversation had a huge impact on me and made me aware of things so horrific I realized I could not really grasp what those guys went through. He committed suicide 16 years ago after surviving all of that shit and coming home to people spitting on him. He was tormented by the horror of the tunnels till the day he died. He was an avid fly fisherman.
Lt Col Glen Frazier was a customer and friend of mine for years until he passed, he was the last survivor of the Baton Death March and he had a way of really putting things into perspective, a perspective that could only come from a man who had lived through so much horror and pain but ultimately turned it into forgiveness and even wrote a book about it called “To hell and back”
I have too much respect for the sacrifices of those guys to not vote. It is not an option. It is a duty paid for by men far better than any of us will ever be. I would vote even if I couldn’t stand the idiot I was voting for. Even if I knew my vote was futile and we were gonna lose.
People are free to vote or not. Lots of people choose not to for a myriad of reasons, but I’d be willing to bet none of those reasons would be good enough for them to even say them out loud in the presence of Lt Col Glen Frazier or Carlton Hooper..
It is the very least I can do to honor those guys and their service.

Word bro'.

All good bro! You are one of the few reasonable people here. We can disagree on many topics but I still respect you. Cheers mate.
Much-appreciated again bro'.

Peeps, you can say what you want about this dude, but at least he's always treated the mods with respect, something I appreciate more than most would imagine, I'm guessing. I mean, this sort of thing balances the bitter memories and pain endured on-the-job. :dunno:

I respect your work and how you handle this place. The rest of the shit flinging monkeys can, well, fling their shit all they want.

So have I. And most everyone else here. If you don't see through his shit when he's sucking on your balls and flinging shit on everyone else here in the same sentence I don't know what to tell you Monkey.

Why the fuck do expect the gobernment to do everything?
Many people, especially idealistic types, substitute government for God. If you don't believe in a hereafter, then the tendency seems to be to look towards making the material world into a sort of utopia whether it's politically, or just trying to surround yourself with the finest worldly things. This is how many well intentioned systems became the most repressive of regimes. "We'll make it a paradise for the worker"....

Pray tell brother, how should I treat anyone differently?

Dude is polite to me and complied with every request I made of him whilst he was learning the ropes / ascertaining the limits of what he can say here (remember, I'm the only one who's bant him temporarily, so there's that, but I digress), so I thank him, just as I do for everyone... every. single. time.

Consistency bro'. An emotionally-reactive mod might've acted differently, but is that what this forum really wants or needs?

Spoiler alert:
I'm not gonna change my moderating style any time soon. Sorry and no offence of course. I always appreciate your feedback brother.
