Reb Beach in Dokken. FIRE!

I LOVE Dokken's Reb Beach era. I think "Erase the Slate" album which features Reb would have sold like hotcakes had it been released in the 80's. Reb gave Dokken a much needed shot in the arm. This album still sounds fresh to me after all these years.

"Erase the Slate" album:

Saw that lineup twice in Palo Alto, CA. They leveled the place both times.

Their live DVD kicks butt, too.

Reb…wow, it’s like he took Lynch up a notch on the Dokken stuff

They are playing here with Bulletboys soon....If I see anyone I know post it up on FB, I'll gently point out the latest vocal performances....gonna be some painful reviews.
 
Never listened to that album before. May have to check it out. Good post.
 
Yeah it's good shit, Reb did a good job.....great player obviously

I saw George Lynch with the bullet boys original drummer in Minneapolis about 3 plus years ago.I mentioned to the drummer that I loved smooth up in ya and he told me at the time it was strippers number one requested song to dance 2.Show was awesome
 
I bought this album last week myself and it's recorded very well and played even better! If I remember correctly in an old guitar world Reb said that to be more similar to Lynch he had used his orange Suhr without EMG pickups becouse they were too compressed and to have a more "airy" sound he switched to a Dimarzio Norton on bridge and JSuhr noiseless single coils

I love the Norton in 2 totally different guitars; a Charvel So Cal superstrat and a Burny Les Paul. Did swap out the Norton in the Burny for the DiMarzio AT-1, to get a bit more low-mid chunk and heft, but the Norton has a better 'kerrang' than the AT-1.

I had a Norton in a 80's Kramer and it was killer. It was wired with a series/parallel switch and in parallel mode it really blew me away.

DiMarzio's website says "The sound of a Norton® is right between FRED and The Tone Zone."

Under the Tech Talk link on the Norton page it says: "Norton® was originally designed to extend the tonal range and power of standard output humbuckers without going over the top. It's more modern than a PAF® sound: the benchmark Gibson® Les Paul®/Marshall combination yields more midrange crunch and high frequency pick harmonics than vintage-style pickups were capable of putting out. Norton® is really good for opening up the sound of mahogany set-neck guitars.

A member on the DiMarzio forum described it like this: "The Norton won't tame anything. A fantastic pickup, it will make your LP sound like a wild mongoose who is piloting a F-22 raptor and smoking crystal meth."
 
I like Live from the Sun.. not a big fan of Erase the Slate but it is not bad at all.
