Reb Beach says Kirk sucks

Wow, reb sounds like a sour old douchebag. I hate when I hear guys trash hammet because reb may technically be a better player as far as scales and tapping, guitarists forget that the rest of the world could give a shit how many notes u can cram into a song if the song is shit, they would much rather listen to music that moves them. When was the last time u got goose bumps listening to winger??? I know when I am driving and an old Metallica tune comes on I start singing along and playin air guitar n shit. Metallica were true outsiders in the industry when winger was playin dress up and posing per record company instructions for a check.

Nothing new. Twenty year old feud between Metallica and Winger.

Isnt it, Metallica -vs- The World ! ;)

I have no problem with what he said and he is 100% correct. They should interview that Shred Durst guy about Kirk's horrid vibrato.

Guitar World and Guitar Player have historically the absolute worst choices for best anything. Maybe that's due to their voting/reader population......

It still always drives me crazy when someone like Kirk Hamster gets repeated awards in those mags......

Threads like these make me think I should have been a drummer.

If you ain't the lead dog, the view is always the same. It's tough for Kirk being at the top, I guess.

Actually what Reb said is true.
Kirk has probably the worst vibrato in the league he is playing. It's really embarrassing.
He's bends are sloppy, a couple of times out of tune, he use actually said in an interview he's using the Wah in case he is out of ideas. I barely can recall a solo from their last 5 records without a wah.
But who the fook cares. He's playing in Metallica and entertaining 20.000 people, on bad ticket selling nights. C'mon.

HA, the loser kid on Beavis and Butt head always wore a Winger shirt.

Meh.....I don't mind him speaking his mind, even though it could be perceived by some as being a bit classless. I too, thought most of what he said to be spot on. And, I guess he has the right to be a little bitter as he stated in the interview about being "dissed" by Metallica (or at least his singer which can easily translate to his band.) At the end of the day, it doesn't really matter much anyways.....as Kirk is part of a band that will always be loved and remembered by millions, along with all the wealth it comes with. And with that being the case, he'll also have a bigger impact on guitar players across the world....for better or worse. But, I think Reb is a hell of a player.

One thing I can't deny is that Reb's got one helluva nice Suhr signature! :)

I can't agree with Beach.
Kirk don't sucks , he is toooooooo much overrated.
There are plenty players , who are far far far better than him.

Yeah but would they be a better fit within the band? I see it like sports: Yankees can go out & buy the best players but THAT alone doesn't guarantee them a championship. Chemistry plays a huge role in success. Personally, I just don't get all the bullshit bashing.

It's difficult for me to fathom how pro-level musicians don't catch onto the 'speak constructively or not at all' mindset when it comes to discussing other players.

You either come off as sounding daring / edgy, or simply jealous and bitter. Most of the time, it's the latter.

I agree. What would Metallica be like if Joe Stump replaced Kirk Hammet. Kirk is not Reb Beach by any means. But he is Metallica.

If Reb's mad at anyone it should be Kip

Yes , Kirk is accustomed to Metallica.
But it doesn't instantly mean that he is extra talented guitarist. He is just average player.
He WAS good but in in days gone by.

I can't imagine Metallica without Kirk , because he is in Metallica for almost 30 years...
But remeber - he is not original member of metallica.

LOL. ..might be a little immature to comment during an interview but his assessment is right on

Fwiw, I'd bet Kip is mad at Kip, for that particular lapse in judgement
