If you can, I would say to try out a Mesa/Boogie Mark III that has simul-class. I have some EL34s running in Class A in one of mine, and it sounds like a better version of my co-guitarists JCM 800, and the Boogie has low end while still keeping the cut and bite...and that's on R2!

Ya know, i loved Mesas for years, but never tried a Mk3, in fact the only Mesa I ever tried with EL34s was an older (prob 1st gen) Recto, and it sounded great (very Deftones, actually). I still have a DC-5 head kicking around, maybe i'll get that biased up for EL34s...

I'd stay late JMP or early JCM800 2203's and run a Boss SD1 and GE7 in front.

I did exactly that for years, and it def has it's place, but i want something different now.

2203's with 6550's was my go to for ages. If you like that tone base and love 80's-90's hard rock / metal then you'll probably like a Splawn QR, VHT 50/100/CL/CLX/UL and Bogner Ecstasy 101B

Hmm, not for nothin, but the VHT & Bogner sounds couldn't be more different to me IMHO. never tried the Splawn though. Ran my old 2204 with 6550s for a while, got that Zakk Wylde/Kerry King thing before they had their own models haha. The good ol days!

There is a D60 for sale on this site.

I'm very tempted, but really want to check one out in person first, hopefully this weekend.
