I was very sceptical against 7 string but now I just want other axe.
It will be very nice to add a new string.

Ibanez RGD2127Z Prestige catch my eye. Unfortunately , I had no experience with 7 string and with this weird Edge bridge.
What do you think about this axe ?

I like the 1527, or if you have the cash Bernie Rico Jr.

The edge bridge is comfy, but i would consider neck type, budget and sound.

I've had a couple different Ibanez 7 strings, a couple Carvin DC7*7's, a schecter, a jackson, etc...

My fav 7 are the Carvin DC727 and DC747 guitars. Best playing 7 for me.

ESP/LTD AW-7 best bang for the buck out there. 900 new check eBay for a B-stock and you can probably score one for around 750ish

Mahogany body, Maple neck, ebony fretboard, with dimarzio deactivators
The neck is comfortable in between a ibanez and Schecter very comfortable IMO

I have a really nice Carvin DC700 up for sale. I PM'd you about it. :)

Unfortunately I'm from Europe and I'm not interested in Carvin sevenstrings . I don't like the shape. But thanks for offer :)

Oh I forgot to mention - I'm searching for 26.5 scale and also with tremolo (FR or Edge). Mounted pickup is not a problem , I can always change them.

Right on. Good luck with your search!

The Schecter Loomis model is a pretty darn nice guitar for the money. Especially if you like EMG's. I had one for a while and quite liked it.

The Ibanez you mentioned is supposed to be a good one as well. I have no experience with it though.

Best playing 7 i tried. That and i my UV777GR, the green one....That one is just wow but really hard to get.

The 1527 with maple neck is quite easy to find and not to hard on the wallet.

Thank you so much guys.

Another question :
26.5 or 25.5 scale ? Which is better ?
I really don't know really. I will play in D tuning with low A or EB with Bb (sorry for my language , I'm new in "7 string territory").
Currently on my 6 string I use drop c tuning with 60 for the low E. I remember when I played Drop B and used 60 too , this string was too floppy for my taste. Real b**** with lack of definition.
So you know , I'm affraid this can happen again when I pick up guitar with 25.5 scale

And what about basswood ? This is good wood for 7 string ?

Sounds like you like a fair amount of tension. So you may want to go with 26.5.

My Ibanez 7620 is basswood. I always thought it sounded pretty good as low as A. Anything lower and a longer scale is usually needed IMO. The Loomis I had was clearer in the low end. I actually tuned it down to F for a while and didn't have any issues.

Your best bet would be if you could try a few different ones out.

The RGD2127 is an amazing guitar with a very good feel. Don't be afraid of the trem. You can turn it into a "normal" trem by removing the bar, but it is so nice as is, and the tuning stability is remarkable. The scale is great - it doesn't feel that much different, but allows you a lower tuning, and is a bit more stable.

That said, I have bought a bunch of 7's the past few years, and my favorites have been the Ibanez K7 & Apex 1, and as far as "bang for the buck", I have gotten a pair of Ibanez S7320's that sound and feel amazing. Spent a little over $300 on each of them. Those have the ZR trems, which I like even more than the Edge trems.

Good luck!

I don't like Basswood for 7's - mahogany has been SUPERIOR to my ears.

I've steered clear of Ibanez for a long time because of Basswood. Do they use Basswood because it's cheap and readily available or is there some sonic quality to it that folks swear by? Seems just about every guitar body they offer is Basswood.

I am a Mahogany addict myself. If Ibanez offered this: http://www.ibanez.com/ElectricGuitars/model-RGD7421, with a Mahogany body I'd be all over it.

Yeah , I'm also interested in fact why Ibanez always make guitars from basswood and this weird wenge/maple combination for neck ...

I'm really in love in this Ibanez , ant this will be such a waste if I will just deleted from my list just because for wood.

Ibanez has plenty Mahogany outside the RG series. RGA, K7, Apex, AR, S-series... Look a little harder.

Awwww , I mean that most of them are made of basswood.
