Recommend a Pickup for Me

I play a Les Paul through a 5150. I typically play classic through 90’s rock, but want to delve into modern metal like Deafheaven.

My bridge Seth Lover has too low an output and too loose of a low end for the job. What replacement pickup would you recommend? Nothing boutique please.

A Suhr Aldrich in an LP is heaven
 
After dropping into the boutique pickup rabbit hole and falling out the other end, I recently swapped an old Duncan Custom SH5 back into a favorite parts guitar and was blown away. I had forgotten how ‘right’ SD got this offering back in the day. Just enough of everything, not too much of anything. Hot enough to do you some real favors on lead and still cleans up admirably with the volume knob.
 
Duncan 78 model 9K, even at 9Kohm it plays and feels hotter and still retains PAF touch and feel qualities and is wax potted

Duncan SH-6N 12-13K ohm ceramic magnet, like a PAF on Steroids with a tight low end, it was the predecessor to the JB and Custom and is now the neck pickup wind in the Distortion pickup sets. it is a bit more open and less mids push than the SH-5 Custom more like A PAF. It will do EVH to Modern Metal, same goes for the SH-5 Custom.

Duncan SH-5 14K ohm Duncans description.... PAF on Steroids with a tight low end with a tad more mids push than the SH-6N.

The Suhr Aldrich 17-18Kohm it is like a more balanced JB

Duncan SH-1 59B Bridge model 9K, it's a PAF clone but potted but bright and spanky compared to the Seth Lover.

I have also heard good things about the Duncan Steckel Candy pickups but I think they are lower output more PAF like not sure if they are potted.

I am currently ordering one from scottosan as well. But if you aren't wanting to go that route (you are crazy j/k), the seymour duncan 59/custom is a very sweet pickup that will push your amp, but has a really musical sound. More medium output, but some of the high output pickups can sound a little clangy. And I am a metal guy.
This is a clip of the 59/custom in my jackson custom straight in (no pedal) to a fender blues jr.

I’ve got a Gibson V that Has had 17 pickups in the bridge. Everything from off the shelf low and high outputs to boutique stuff costing upwards of $300 for a single pup. I settled on Seth Lovers but they just didn’t have enough chunk and weight. On a whim, I tried a BKP Riff Raff and it’s perfect. So right now it has that and a Custombucker in the neck. May not have enough push with NMV amps, but it should work like a charm with the 5150.

Don't fool yourself. The pickup is a beast. Extended range guys like it, Schafer uses it from Iced Earth. Are you looking for a pickup that will do the job or a name? :jerkit:
