Recommend a Pickup for Me

Scott’s pickups are every bit as good as MCP or Wagners imo. For the same price as a DiMarzio or Duncan.
If you have to go Duncan I’d agree with the Custom recommendation above.
Yep. I have all 3, and Scott's are tops. Wicked 8 would be the ticket for OP. Killer pup. I want one.
Wagner Godwood is killer in my Explorer.
Motor City Detroiter beefed up my SG.
Suhr SSH+ has a bit more output and low end than all these, would do the trick.

Yeah. Wicked 8 is what he is making for me as well. Thanks @scottosan

Thanks for all the recommendations everyone. I think I’m going to try going down the Duncan SH-5 path and see how that works out.

I agree with Racerxrated, awesome to support a fellow forum member with the Scottosan pickups but also Custom would be my choice in a Les Paul.

A pickup named after a Zep tune for modern metal? Um, I don’t think so. I doubt the low end will be tight enough.
That is not a correct assumption… However I would suggest a BK Cold Sweat or a Duncan Perpetual Burn…

I actually have a set of Lundgren Black Heaven pickups in my LP and it kills through my 5150 II.

I am currently ordering one from scottosan as well. But if you aren't wanting to go that route (you are crazy j/k), the seymour duncan 59/custom is a very sweet pickup that will push your amp, but has a really musical sound. More medium output, but some of the high output pickups can sound a little clangy. And I am a metal guy.
This is a clip of the 59/custom in my jackson custom straight in (no pedal) to a fender blues jr.

Agreed. I use one in my Randy Rhoads Les Paul Custom, together with a Pearly Gates neck, both coil-splittable. Awesome, versatile characterful tone, that is not bland (like my experience with the Duncan Jazz or '59 was) with a bit more hair and kerrang, so it's tight enough for modern metal, but not overly pushed.
SH-14 Custom 5 is great as well. Or a DiMarzio Norton; bit tighter, more 80's shred tone perhaps, but splits beautifully. To me the Norton has always been the pickup that the JB aspires to be.
