I'm not opposed to cleaning out the cupboard sometimes, so to speak.

Recommend an amp for each of these 3 categories.

1) High gain head + 4x12 cab for live shows, playing original modern alternative rock/metal (think Deftones, Chevelle etc...)

2) British flavoured 2x12 combo or head + 2x12 cab for covers shows (classic rock through to current FM radio)

3) 1x12 combo as a clean pedal platform, primarily for jamming at home and recording.

Let's hear some suggestions!

I'm gonna be ultra conservative and tell you to use the Mark III and a 2x12 for all three situations.

1. Either the Mark 3 or SLO should work well with a V30 cab for modern stuff..
2. Grab a JMP or JCM 800 4104 or 2104 combo for classic rock(or the SLO crunch channel with a 212 with 65s/Creambacks)
3. Some type of Fender 1x12? Not much experience with Fenders.

Friedman BE100 can do all that....

Not joking, have you considered a Kemper setup at all?

We use a Kemper in our bassist's studio for some tracks.
I really prefer the response of tube amps.

How About a Mesa Boogie JP-2c?
Great heavy tone, great crunch
Great clean channel

For #3 it was mentioned on another forum that the Fender SuperSonic 60 is a fantastic pedal platform. I've never tried one though.

Otherwise for #3 the Katana K100 combo.

1) Marshall DSL100 + Mesa 4x12 cab. Set the Marshall to the boosted green channel and hit it with a boost pedal.

2) Marshall DSL100 + Avatar 2x12 cab loaded with a V30 and a Greenback variation. Turn off the boost pedal.

3) No idea. A Fender 1x12 of some sort or a Peavey Classic 30 probably.

Tough questions.

I think Deftones use AXE FX tbh and Chevelle uses Mesa....

If it were me I would go with my current setup. Bogner Uberschall and Mills Cabs or a VHT 100CL.

2x12 I would get KSR Orthos or a 5150 combo on a budget.

1x12 + pedals I would also go that Fender route.

1) 5150 or variant, SLO if you're willing to spend

2) CAA OD100 classic plus

3) Marshall dsl40c

I don't know what deftones currently use, but Stef used a JMP1 for like 20 years at least. Chevelle has been mesa forever. I'd go reborn dual or triple rec for coverage. For the second two either a Shiva or XTC.

Are you just looking at spending some money/trying something new or? Because either of your SLO or MK3 will cover the first 2 applications...

For 3) I'd second the Katana recommendation.

Friedman Amps is your Answer.

1) Friedman BE-100, Friedman JJ-100 Jerry Cantrel Signature, Friedman Butterslax Bill Kelliher Signature

2) Friedman BE-100, Friedman Small Box, Friedman Dirty Shirley or Friedman SS-100 Steve Stevens Signature + Friedman 2x12.

3) Friedman Small Box 1x12 Combo, Friedman Dirty Shirley 1x12 Combo or Friedman 1x12 Combo Buxom Betty.

All this amps are Hand Wire World Class Top Quality.

Find a good used Blues Junior for the 1x12 pedal platform unless you need an FX loop.

Get a KSR Colossus 100-H for everything else.

1) PRS Archon with older rear loaded Uberkab
2) Friedman BE100 with whatever cab floats your boat
3) Divided by 13 FTR37

Like others have recommend BE100 with matching 4x12, and get the 2x12. It will do all of what you have described.

This!

The BE100 and Splawn Quick Rod currently sitting in the man cave will do all of those tones (a boost may be needed to tighten things up for metal). I play everything from the classic plexi tones of "High and Dry" era Leppard and Brother Cane, to AIC and TOOL on them and they sound great. I've played Chevelle's "Face to the Floor" on various rigs over the years and it sounds as good with those amps as it ever did on my Engl Powerball II, VHT UL, and other higher-gain amps to my ear. Maybe not as tight, but BETTER.
