I asked this over at HC and I was about to maybe purchase some but then I realised I can't fucking find the old thread. So, recommend me some plugs. I may go the moulded to my ears route, I haven't quite decided yet but other than those, what can you recommend?

Seems the Etymonics offer 4db more reduction? Marketing talk?

I use these for three years now, and they satisfy my each rehearsal! you can choose between three different reduction filters.

I wonder how well they work.

I've used Etymotics for about 6 years now, and I like them a lot. The definitely retain more accuracy of your guitar sound than other plugs I've used..

I use Etymotics for a couple of years, I love them and can't find anything not to like about them. You get a very slight muffled sound (exactly as they show on the frequency charts), but it's something that your brain easily adjusts to. Their attenuation is exacly enough to bring things from painfuly loud to enjoyable, yet you still don't get disconnected from your instrument and from your band.

the westone earplugs look very similar to my elacin. mine cost about $300, but they're worth every penny!
