Looking for a small table top amp. Something along the lines of the Yamaha THR series. Not looking for diversity. Looking to get Lynch/DeMartini type 80s tones.

I don't have a ton of experience with them, but those little yamahas are pretty impressive IMO.

I can't really think of a comparison, much less anything that cost effective.

Yamaha THR10X is the best sounding one I've come across.

Always liked the clips of the Yamaha compared to the Vox table top amps. I would go for the Yamaha.

15 watt fender Gdec has sat on my desk for a few years now. Has a preset channel that's by Tony McAlpine I believe it is. Has really cool tones for what it is. Has a built in looper, headphone , sd drive, 2nd guitar input. Footswitch option, pretty endless really. But the one thing I've enjoyed the most is the sound on the one preset mentioned. Great for fun 80s type mids, distortion, delay and verb. Was 180 new when I got it years ago , a used one is probably worth checking out. I've played the mentioned Yamaha and it to sounds good with the provided preset distortion channels and delay/verb. It has a battery option so youd not be chained to the wall as was why I considered getting one but the price makes no sense to me at 3 C notes and about 2 on the used market.ymmv. happy hunting

One other option would be mfx and a small speaker.

I have a Boss GT1 for that reason. Plug it into the pair of Bose speakers that I brought at a thrift store for $5 and it works great.

Another thing nice about that route is that you can practice silently and you could go into a PA

Second the GT1. Love mine.

It's nice too that is AA battery powered, and lasts incredibly long. Has a looper, and I have on occasion used it just for modulation and delay in an effects loop in a pinch.

So which Yamaha would be better for lynch/DeMartini tones? THR10 or THR10X? Ok

I have had a Roland Cube 15 for years, and I love it. Great OD tones, great cleans. Decent reverb.

And I kind of like the look of the Yamaha. I think the gf would be more willing to let me keep it in the living room than a standard looking amp
