Reconing Mesa Celestion V30, yes/no?

Hi,
one of my speakers in my Mesa 2x12 Rectifier cab makes scratching noises when notes decay. So I assume a recone is needed?
So what would you guys do? If it would be a common V30, I simply would buy a used one and be done with it, but it`s a Mesa V30 (from `96).

How much does a recone cost? I wouldn`t care just buying a new Mesa V30, it depends which route is cheaper.

This. Supposedly some of the new ones sound a lot like those older V30's, i'm not sure how consistent they are though?? You might get some from a bad batch still. It's kinda luck of the draw when it comes to V30's. Some sound great, other sound dull and fizzy.

A Cesa Melestion T Vhirty?
 
There are four V30 variations I know of. I'm sure I could match the cone, etc of the one you have. But frankly, I think you can buy a new V30 for less than $169 or so, correct?

It’s 145.- plus shipping in the Mesa shop. But in Europe, they are currently not available so I will wait.

The question is, is a recone always mandatory or can the problem possibly be fixed with less effort?
 
The V30 has the Bogner & Mesa versions, the Chinese version and the UK version from what I've learned on other forums. I'm not a V30 fan, however, but they go into great detail on this on the Marshall Forum.

Bogner uses Chinese unless that changed. I imagine they sound better in his cabs with that Soundrunner 10 ga. wire, polyfil on the back panel and thick grille cloth tho.
 
Lol don't get RT brethren started on V30 variants or you'll get a 20+ page thread and Swedish scientists making YouTube videos!
