Recording a Hermansson

Hey guys I was wondering how anyone with e hermansson records out there. I’m finding it kinda hard cause a lot of the sounds are so fun but a bit extreme to be used a mix. Also are y’all close miking and room miking or just close miking. I find the hermansson gets super neutered by the waza tae and completely throughs off the dynamic feel.

i think that was a 57 on a g12-65

I’m not at home so no clips. But once dialed in I used a 421 on a v30 . The 421 captures what my ears are hearing most . Then post eq a song ad after added to mix

Yeah I get it perfect for where I am in a room but I always end up with way too much highs in the recorded product. To be fair my mic stand is broken and I can’t really find a good angle that’ll stay at.
