Hi, I am new to this forum, I currently own a herbert and a vh4 (also looking to buy a hagen) . I am going to start recording sessions with my band in a couple of weeks, I wanted to use a speaker simulator such as the Sound Performance Lab Transducer http://spl.info/hardware/cabinet-simula ... short.html Can anyone offer any advice on how these things work, and if the essence of the amp is really captured? The only disadvantage I can find on this unit is that it has 100 watt tolerance (200w maximum), so how would I be able to record with m vh4/herbert? Should I use something as the Sound perfomance Labs Watts Reducer? The thing is we want to get the most accurate sound of the amps without having to play at extremely loud volumes thru a cab. Thanks in advance guys!!! Diezel Rocks!!

Thanks! And could you tell me if my Herbert is in danger if I use a 150 watt speaker simulator? I think there shouldn´t be issues with the vh4 since it is 90 watts right? Anyone has expertience with the Sound Performance Lab Unit? Thanks!!

its fine just dont rail your master i play my herbert master volume around 9.5-10 oclock get good solid tones

We ran a VH4 into a Torpedo for 4 days at last year's Music Messe in Frankfurt, no problems. Please note that in the case of high gain amps, there is usually a sweet spot that isn't with the entire amp dimed as one might do with an older vintage amp. Finding and using the amp at this setting would give the best performance.

also noteworthy is that the newest rev firmware 1.70 permits setting (and storing) the dry signal level. A great recording application is to set the Torpedo to dry/wet on the left and right outputs over the digital out. You then record this track as 2 mono tracks in your Daw. The dry track can then be reconnected back into the Torpedo in order to a) add additional cabinets/micing for the track b) allow changing the micing and cabinet to better suit the rest of the arrangement.

Finally, if you would feel more comfortable having an evaluation (within North America), we can offer a trial period whereby should the unit not meet your expectations, we would accept the unit for return (shipping charges excepted).
