Hi all,

I have four 1960 4x12 cabs right now. They have 1) G12-65s, 2) G12Ms, 3) Marshall-label V30s and 4) Mesa-spec V30s.

The two V30 cabs do sound different, but pretty close and I tend to prefer the Marshall-labels (more bite; a bit more scooped, I think).

So I may swap the Mesa-spec V30s for something. But not sure what. Obvious choice seems like H30-type speakers. I used some years ago and thought they were rather "zingy," though.

I mostly use a Marshall 2204 but have a 5150 and a Tremoverb as well.

Any suggestions? Thanks!

I have some 2012 Greenbacks and some ‘93 Uk V30’s I’ll sell if you want to make a Friedman clone setup.

I have 1960's with GB's and another with V30's. The Friedman cab has the standard GB's on bottom and V30's on top. My next cab is going to be the EVH 4X12 with the EVH labeled Celestion's. I want to see how they sound with the 50W Stealth I have now. That is my vote.

Thanks guys! I guess I could try it by mixing up the speakers I have to see if it's worth while.

I use to have a mix of T75s and either spec V30s but preferred just all V30 in the cab.

The Friedman combo is amazing, but the cab I have for them is frontload and they like rear loading better, hence the sale. That and since I got my 2003 Mesa OS, I have that to satisfy my soul.

Wish I knew the real story for all the V30 versions, but that's a whole other thread. Internet says that the T3904 changed in the '90s and Mesa insisted on the original, hence the T4416.

But I have a pair of T4416s from March '93. So if that Internet story is true, Mesa objected to the T3904 really early. When did Mesa even start using the V30? 1992 in the Recto cabs?

Anyway who knows.
