Opinions? It seems like some slick improvements have made since I've played one...

I thought they made great improvements to it. Cleans are warm n chimey. I feel it's tighter on gains not loose n flubby as the old ones were. Lots of versitity. Loud as hell n cuts like a chainsaw.
Bold/silicon/modern/150watts = brutal

Ref F is the tone peak IMHO. That I have one is a complete coincidence.

Don't believe everything you hear Zack. Go play one. They are better now than they were. Like cujo said above.....tighter, more controlled, less flubb, less fizz. Mesa builds a good product.

They really have a lot of options on them now to create your sound the raw/vintage/modern switch is nice. A lot of control of the gain structure on them now.

Fizzy garbage. Stay away.

Gotta agree with Fluff on this one. Got to play one extensively next to a regular 3 channel and much preferred the original for the heavy stuff. The extra brightness is a good idea but I just couldn't get it to be to tonally pleasing. It was a grating brightness. The clean was a little nicer on the reborn and the pushed setting on the reborn can definitely do a nice hard rock early metal tone better than on the original. But because I would buy a recto for what a recto does, the vintage and modern high gain settings, I would still choose an original 3 channel over the reborn. I would rather get more top end with a graphic in the loop if I need it.

I saw some of Fluff's Reborn vids and thought they were fine. I guess he sold it or was being facetious.

My buddy Shiny_Surface here has one so maybe he'll let me give it a try. I bet it gives some boutiques a run for their money. I like the clips I've heard over the older revisions so far.

Anytime you want, this is a rare occasion where I can actually return the favor...

Cool man. Should have the Torpedo Live in about 10 days so we can check that out as well.

Really liked the Triple Reborn I played. No fizz for me at least in the Vintage mode. Played a Roadster too and thought the Roadstebwas too dark and dull sounding.

Its all in the way you eq it and use the master volume... They sound great if you take the time.

 I think that's a big part of the problem with Rectos. Yes they have a lot of preamp gain, but it needs to balance out with a big power section and some volume. EQ is pretty simple once you understand that the treble is first in the tone chain and the controls are dependent on each other from there.

Cool, good to hear they've refined the high end/fizz (I've heard this in other reviews as well).

In 2010 when the Reborn's came out I visited a music store that had both.
With identical settings the Reborn was clearer, had a better clean channel, and felt a little more alive under your fingers. Now these differences were very small and I could get them to sound very close if i messed with some settings a bit but the Reborn did come off as the better of the two.
Fizz comes from low volume, gain or treble set too high, or scooping the midrange.
