looks pretty awesome V! Just hope you have room for more parts in your basement ;) You going to open a finishing shop down there now???

LOL! :D
So you pulled the trigger on that USACG body and neck?

Still up in the air on the finish...between cherry and honey burst, and a trans red...I CAN'T DECIDE! argh. Think I want red though...

Oh, remember those diagonal buckers that Rio Grande has, complete with a bridge cut out for them? Those almost make sense in this instance...just never run into someone who's actually played one!

I think the red makes sense. Go for it.

I'd go with standard humbuckers. Great ones. :D You won't regret it. :D

VRAD guitars has a cool ring to it !! I say go for it!!

Another thing Ive moticed is that Birdseye or flame maple necks feel better then the plain ones. Ive tried to get along with straight maple but everytime I go back to birdseye it just blows me away

Interesting... I can believe it. 1/4-sawn seems to feel a bit different than flat-sawn.

Its definitely weird but there is a HUGE difference in feel. The only trade off is that sometimes birdseye warps. it might be 20 years before it does but it definitely has a tendency to warp.

Hmm... Even if it's oiled? Maybe it's related to stress. Maybe I'll do 1/4-sawn with a birdseye maple board. The 1/4 sawn neck I got from Musikraft was dead straight without having to play with the truss rod.

I was told be Lee at GMW the reason why it warps is because birdseye is diseased wood. there is speculation that the birdseye is created by a fungus in the tree but Im not sure if there is any proof of that lol :D

I am not sure if sick is the word for birdseye, a trained person can tell by the bark if the maple has birdseye working under the bark.

There may be something to that, because I've read that before as well... YEARS ago. That it wasn't recommended to make necks out of flame and birdseye maple.
