It's looking pretty good so far. What are you using for clear coat? Lacquer?

I bought a can of Deft from Home Depot. The guys on ReRanch.com like it. I believe it's Nitro.

Nice, I used a couple cans of Deft Lacquer and my guitar turned out great. Good luck with it dude!

Sweet. Was it you that put the maple top on the Ibanez?

So what's the name of this new guitar did it change from 'baby blue' to 'purple people eater' :D

Nice job

Thanks man!
Well it can't be the Purple People Eater because that's the name of my purple '71 Marshall Super Lead 1/2 Stack. However, this guitar was meant to go with that amp... :D

Purple people feeder. All other names will be wrong :D

Ok. So I let the Deft cure for about 3 weeks and started the wet-sanding and polishing process.

Here are some more progress. I compounded and polished the back and front. I still need to do the sides.

Looks great. I'll be starting a similar project this weekend. Just ordered the grain filler, sand & sealer, primer, paint and clear coat.

So you pulled the trigger on that USACG body and neck?
NO! All finishing is going to be done in the garage! You have no idea how much some of this stuff stinks! I need to buy a respirator! It's downright hazardous!

Anyway, I'm really happy with how it's turning out. The guys on Reranch were very helpful in guiding me through certain things. All-in-all, it's not terribly difficult just time consuming. I learned alot about how to do things that I'm going to try on my next refinish.

I'm going to build a musikraft/ charvel clone. Already have most of the parts. Just getting ready to start the body. I'll be following the info from reranch guitar finishing. I'll also be using their paint products.

Looks sweet! How 'bout a few more pics. Preferably without the glare.

Cool! Musikraft makes good stuff. I'm going to order a Musikraft neck for this guitar. Be sure to check on the discussion boards. They clarify some confusion because the Reranch 101 tutorial isn't always clear.

Thanks man! I'm going to take a few more pics in natural light. The glare was on purpose. It was to show the reflectiveness of the final finish.

Nice work! looks like you took your time, and got it right   We will need finished product pics :D

Thanks man... There was plenty of cursing and complaining and thinking I fucked something up.
Yup... I'll post a pic of the finished guitar once I have the rest of the parts.

Still up in the air on the finish...between cherry and honey burst, and a trans red...I CAN'T DECIDE! argh. Think I want red though...

Oh, remember those diagonal buckers that Rio Grande has, complete with a bridge cut out for them? Those almost make sense in this instance...just never run into someone who's actually played one!
