I'm pretty sure I'll be keeping this amp. But I'm currently auditioning a Renegade 212. My only real concern is the fan. It seems noisy.

I'm use to the fan in my PV Classic 100. But the fan in the Renegade seems to have more of a mechanical, "rrrrrrrrrrrrr" kind of sound to it. And the fan in the Renegade is basically just a light weight computer fan compared to the heavy metal fan that comes in the Classic. It seems like the Renegade fan should actually be less noticeable.

Obviously, while playing it isn't an issue. But it seems much louder than it should be given what it is. (FYI: and it isn't under warranty because I ordered it "used" from Musicians Friend. I can send it back w/in 45 days though.)

Anyone identify with this? Is this common for this amp or is it just mine???

Otherwise, great amp! I even wonder why it needs the fan given the open back and top vent...

Yep that is the way it sounds, loud. I had the same thing with my 1x12 and hated it. I took it back and went with the Rebel 30. Maybe the head version will be different. The reason for the fan in the combo is that the tubes are actually mounted upside down, alot of combo do this for space issues and the fan helps get rid of some of the heat. On the Rebel 30 head I have and I am guessing the Renegade head the tubes are mounted right side up and there are vents on top of the head to help get rid of heat therefore no fan.

I've got the 112 combo, my fan is quite-besides just the sound of moving air

Yeah. Not the case with mine. There's a definite mechanical sound. Almost like the fan blades are hitting something... I'll have to look closer. Maybe they are.

I just checked it again-fan is quiet, sounds like my pc fan starting on a reboot.

The Renegade head has a fan. The tubes are mounted upside down as in the combo.
