I'm getting ready to retube my '75 Marshall Super Lead with the awesome Friedman Kitchen Sink Mod. I was considering trying some TAD EL34's and was wanting some feedback on these tubes. Also what tubes have you guys had good luck with?

ive had good luck with solvtek 6L6GC's

very glassy - strong tube with a decent headroom.a huge improvement over the 5881's i used to use and better sounding than JJ's 6L6's i thought.

The TAD EL34B-STR's are nice, they have more headroom and a little bit of that 6L6 low end. I have the Ruby EL34B-STR (which i believe is the same tube) in one of my Marshall JMP's which i modded, and i really like them.

Winged C's are fantastic in Marshalls, so they are definitely worth a try :) They're my personal favorite choice for when i retube modded Marshalls!

The TAD EL34B-STR's are great tubes....they're burned and tested Chinese EL34B's. Same thing as the Ruby's. Very strong, slightly larger bottle and big sounding. My favorite standard EL34 for classic Marshall tone with a good amount of low end and crispy highs. The Winged C's are great too. I really like the new Ruby EL34BHT's that just came out. Similar to the BSTR's but beefed up and can handle higher plate voltage. Works great in Bogners that usually use Winged C's. Chinese made also. Same tubes Diezel is now using.

I'm currently using Penta KT88SC's in my Friedman Marshall and love 'em. Sounds like a giant EL34 with more headroom and deeper bass.

I've tried the SED's which I like, I'm just wanting to check out some other brands to see if I might even like something else better. The Tad's do sound interesting.

The best Friedman Mod i have heard was the videoclip that Ned did with his Purplexi. I think that was loaded with JJ E34L's and it sounded absolutely BADASS!!

I have that amp now it had GT JJe34L's in it, when I got it, I checked the tubes and it was basically to pairs in there about 14 ma off from each Pair,GT ratings one pair 6, one pair 8. it was biased pretty hot too, I put some new JJ E34l's a couple off NOS mullard 12ax7 and 2 JJ ecc83's in her and she still sounds killer  just played out with it this weekend again,
played everything from SRV to AIC, priest, CCR, ZZ top, to tom petty, great amp

talk to Dave and see what he used when tweaking his mods.

thought he was into the old Sylvania 6CA7?

Gold Lion KT-77 are cool and deferent, same for the EH 6CA7.

Tung-sol EL-34B can be hot shit in the right amp, picky on which amp though.

the big bottle chinese is an allright tube with some bottom end, but it's far from a favorite and not so great in some amps. they do have a nice feel.

SED's are kickass, and pretty much rock in lots and lots of amps.

Dave said he prefers the JJ in his amps this was from a question I asked on his page

Well how about anywhere you like it from 30ma to 40 ma I set them a 30ma all the time it seems to be the best harmonically to me but this is with jj's which is what I use. With winged c's I like them at 40 ma. Personally i don't like them with my stuff. They seem harsh these days. They use to be darker then the jj's
