Reverb good, market bad

I haven't tried that place yet, but based on some of the comments I've read from guys on here, it sounds like a crapfest.

It's the best option out there. Don't know why sellers are opposed to questions. I asked at least 6 questions before buying my last guitar. You always have the option to not answer, right? Reverb offers the best balance of protection for both the seller and buyer. I spotted a fake Tom Anderson on there New Years eve and sent an email. They made the seller take it down within 2 hours.

Ive had nothing but EXCELLENT results.
you can select to auto reject lowball offers.
Its immediate payment, and lower fees than Ebay.
I love it.

cool......good to hear something positive. I need another outlet other than fleabay for sure. The fees on ebay are just out of control.

The place is run well. They banned a guy, who posts here, for constantly low-balling me and sending stupid-ass comments along with the offer. Said he was doing it to others there as well. They try to keep the place clean.

I love Reverb. I've had excellent results selling AND buying on there, and the fees are only 3%, compared to Ebay's 10%. I can't say a bad thing about it. It's not the fault of Reverb that stupid people ask stupid questions....

Never been to reverb. But I am all over the city on a daily basis with my job.
The world is full of idiots and assholes. Just cant escape them.

Sure it's a good place to buy and sell music gear but it has become so over saturated with gear and cheap ass people. Sure if you want to sell gear to those galking watchers waiting for the next price drop have at it. It's a buyers market.

The questions are fine to answer but when you answer you get no reply or sale. Just a waste of time if you ask me. Nothing wrong with the Reverb site and concept just seems like no point selling gear at this point in time unless you are desperate for cash.

Again, that's not the fault of Reverb.

I dig reverb and have done many transactions with great results. Sure, you get some tire kickers but no more than on here or thegearpage..:) I will not sell on ebay again... buy, sure.... but not sell.

I sold quite a bit of gear there over the past several months. Every transaction went smoothly, but some of the lowball bids there were pretty humorous.

For those complaining about lowball bids, I am pretty certain that best offer is an option you can opt out off. If you are that sensitive don't turn on the option.

I dig it- and I say that as a buyer, seller, and browser.

Kind of mad at myself for not starting something similar sooner.

Just curious...to anyone with complaints: how would you make it better?

Meh, I'm to paranoid for every place. :)

I actually like finding someone here on the forum that I've known for years and beg them to sell or trade. Most times it works out. I was able to trade my Gibson LP for the DeMartini years ago with no case exchanged. Years later, I traded that same DeMartini for a Gibson LP with another forumite. Keeps me patient and not buy and sell like crazy like I used to.

Only one thing. Parse the results based on location. I want to know who has gear for sale within driving distance.

That's a great idea.

My one issue is that I have tried to pay with money order/cashiers check, and most people wont take them!!! I told them, "hey, of course, keep the item till the payment clears," and they still wont do it!! irritating.

Also, Apparently Reverb is owned and operated by Chicago Music Exchange...so they have a good infrastructure on getting the site up and running.

No wonder. They sell the most shit there!
