Reverb sellers, heads up on a probable scam...

I just listed two things tonight and got the exact same copy and paste message twice:

First listing was for a guitar:

Hello, I've got interest in your Guitar and I'm just wondering if there is anything more I need to know about it?
Kindly Note: Get back to me by my email: j________s@gmail.com your firm price and some additional close-up pictures. Thanks

Second listing was for an amp and here was that message:

I edited out the E-mail for now just in case it is not a scam but it looks like it is. I reported it to Reverb as well.

I like a dumbass responded to the first message via E-mail so I will see what happens and let you guys know. DO NOT RESPOND TO THESE TYPES OF MESSAGES!
 
Yeah I would never respond to something that seems written by a robotic Nigerian prince. I've had some where the first email seemed normal but the second follow up was like this.
 
Wow! Reverb already responded to my message when I reported this guy, said they're looking into it ASAP! :rock:


I'm impressed, I know if it was Ebay they probably would have suspended my account for trying to do transactions outside of Ebay, that is when they finally got around to responding to my message a week later. :doh:
 
As a general rule you should never respond to someone asking you to communicate outside of the system.
 
Just curious but are those his initials at the end of each message? That is, he sent you identical messages but his 'name' was different?
 
Just heard back from Reverb staff...

Apparently that E-mail was tied to a previously suspended user and Reverb went and suspended this new account he was messaging me with. Props to Reverb staff for the quick response.
 
Reverb usually is pretty good. I saw an amp go up for a price that really was too good to be true but I figured PayPal would protect me. But within a few minutes Reverb said they canceled everything because the guy was a known scammer; I sent that message to PayPal and all was fine.

Apparently the real problem is coldfeet buyers.
 
This guy (probable scammer) just E-mailed me. Said he wants to buy it for some relative in Paris and wants me to ship to a Nevada address. Not worth replying to but watch out for anyone on Reverb with this MO.
 
Don't use Reverb in the first place. They will not protect you against fraud. They won't even respond to customer support messages. You put yourself at risk using Reverb.com.
 
You pretty much put yourself at risk selling with anyone on the internet.
