Who uses reverb? Do you use it on clean and high gain OD? Spring or digital?

I use it on both gain and Clean settings and I have used both digital and spring if the amp has it and it sounds good.(not all amp verbs sound good IMHO!) Hope this helps!!!

BTW, I'll be attending one of your classes in 08 Bruce!! Can't wait! I need help learning how to build amps. I'm having a huge mental block!!

Ralph

I use it on all tones and recordings, but when i played out i NEVER used it. Live in the clubs, it just didn't work for me. I always like to have the option though.

Both channels and use digital since I go out to a gmajor. I do not like the MK IV verb but I do use the digital verb on the JVM.

I hope to be sitting next to Ralph in 08 asking even more stupid questions :D

I dont really care for it... If I do use it.. I like digital as I cant stand spring reverb.

Spring. A little mixed in. I only have one digital delay now. It's one of them blue double pedals from the 80's. I like the low bit sound. EH-Memory Man

Depends on the situation. If I'm playing out in a band with 2 or more guitarists... HELL NO. I avoid it like crazy. If I'm the only guitarist playing live, or if I'm recording guitar tracks, then yeah, I'll use a touch. Sometimes I'll use it in SPADES for solo work in a really sparse part of a tune as an effect, but it HAS to sound good in order to do that. I haven't found that many reverbs that sound truly 3D enough to pull it off, but when you do, it's pretty cool.

I used to be addicted to it on my 5150, but with no reverb on my Revolution, I use an old Arlon delay on cleans. The other day I heard a guy I know performing and the reverb on his Hot Rod DeVille about made me puke.

I use tons of spring reverb to play rockabilly on a gretsch.

or to play some atmospheric 90's alternative with low-medium gain

otherwise, I don't use much spring reverb.

I'll use digital reverb for recording or for cleans.

I rarely use reverb for medium-high gain.

I do use delay though.

I can use a little on clean, but need my dirty tone dry. Even on clean, at gigs I find the room to give enough ambiance. I'd never use a pedal for it, if the amp doesn't have it, I go without.

Being 57 and a surfer and having a love for surf music I always have the reverb on. My tube driven spring reverb is very lush and on even for overdrive. If I want it super wet I switch on the deluxe memory man and kick it up a notch. Reverb for me is part of my signature tone. Mostly playing the stratocaster these days.

I use it for cleans and mild overdrive when spanking the strat for some blues or classic rock stuff. For full blown gain heavy chugga chugga metal, no reverb. I like it dry. For leads though I use some reverb or delay.

I like a LITTLE on clean (but usually go without), and none with gain, for live.

I'll use a little digital reverb in recordings if it's called for. Otherwise for practice at home or with the band or live gigs I go completely dry. Reverb just seems to muddy up my sound...especially live with another guitarist. If you're playing any decent size room you'll get it naturally weither you want it or not.

Yes, I prefer digital for having more options to dial in the sound for each channel and then program it.

I’ve played a few old Fenders with gorgeous spring reverb sounds but their one trick ponies. I’ve consistently hated the spring reverb on every Marshall I’ve played but did like that I could dial in a separate verb level on the clean and dirty of my TLS.

I love both digital and spring reverb but it has to sound good and suit the amp i am using. For lead tones i always have some reverb going, and normally a bit of delay too.

I always have some big reverb on my clean sounds, and plenty of chorus/micro pitch and delay. Its all about getting that Michael Bolton tone :D

When im going for a George Lynch supersoaker moment.. the reverb/chorus/delay all get cranked in stereo :D :rawk:

FWIW, I think Marshall putting digital reverb on the JVM and VM is a brilliant move. The reverbs are very usable and convenient.

Totally agree.

I also think putting reverb in an amp is a great marketing tool and would sell more amps. If you like verb.. then use it... if you don't then don't. Pretty simple. I also think that younger players would prefer to have verb in there amps. I know I would.
