FWIW, I think Marshall putting digital reverb on the JVM and VM is a brilliant move. The reverbs are very usable and convenient.

Chris

I also think that younger players would prefer to have verb in there amps. I know I would.

Im a younger player and i agree!

We need to get kids super soaking their tone from an early age :D

I can remember when you couldn't get reverb on an amp back when I was a kid (I'm Old). My main amp has no reverb and was made in 59 it also has no solid state devises like diodes etc. All tubes all the time.

For me if an amp had reverb on it, it would be a negative.

For me reverb is very important especially clean, but I like it on low to medium gain stuff too. I prefer spring reverb to digital, but I do like my line 6 verbzilla.

I don't go nuts with the reverb, but its nice to have the option, the best reverb I get is from my Fender Bandmaster reverb. I wish my Fender Bassman had reverb, but I use the Verbzilla. Not having reverb is not a deal breaker for me, but its something I consider and would prefer, same with an effects loop.

One thing I don't understand is why people complain about having reverb, effects loop, and/or a master volume on the amp. If you don't like the feature don't use it (Many Master volumes you can just turn all the way up).

How is having those features a negative, what am I missing here

performing wise, just on Fender clean amp tones only..I prefer spring.

Why?

My MKIV has reverb. I don't use it and it does nothing to alter the amps tone.

Live I use digital (mostly gmajor - I used gforce for a while) reverb on all sounds. In the studio I use reverb for 99% of all my recordings where I used the Lexicon pcm91.

I just don't like junk on an amp that I would never use. It wouldn't keep me from buying an amp if it had everything else I wanted/liked, but I would just prefer it was left off.
