rft ecc83 preamp tubes

hey all!

have seen a few posts highly recommending rft ecc83 in preamp section for herberts. i own a 2004 herbert with chinese preamp tubes (which sound great).

recently, i have stumbled across some rft late 60's NOS tubes and before purchasing them was wondering if anyone has any opinions/criticisms?

also, is it worth changing all 6 tubes or is v1 and/or v3 enough?

I'd say they are too dark sounding for a Diezel. Those RFTs have plenty of gain but are more on the dark side, I dig them in Marshalls or other more bright sounding amps. If you mix them with Telefunkens (which are bright), thats cool IMO.
Due to their very short plates (RFT) they have rarely problems with microphonics. Teles on the other hand have ultra long plates, but normally are (better: were) well selected.
