Little mix I’m working on. Rhodes colossus sounding mean as all hell. I love this amp. Mix isn’t done, sorry if the 808s are Alittle out of control and the low end in general, still tweaking. But the tones are coming along nicely.

Rhodes colossus
Peppers dirty tree
Marshall 1960BV
BAE 1073 mic preamp
Sm57

Bass is b7k darkglass plug-in, with the mc77 1176 clone from plug-in alliance: what an amazing plug-in that mc77 is, huge fan of that.

enjoy!

Good God man that’s brutal. One of my favorites that you’ve done. Guitars remind me a little of Crionics. Your tone is more scooped, tighter, and has more bite, but the girth and attack of the palm mutes is similarly crushing.
Good example at 2:36

Thanks man! Glad you dig it. Wasn’t that hard to get to be honest, these were professionally recorded DI’s, with great players, it made all the difference. I’ve never gotten tones like this, this easily and I think that’s the biggest thing here. People that say that interfaces and conversion doesn’t matter: it does, and this is proof. It matters tremendously how the tracks were recorded, because the DI’s would’ve never sounded this good had they not. I didn’t spend a ton of time micing the cab, but I knew where it would sound good, and that was that.

I see exactly what you mean listening to that song and that section, that girth and attack is exactly it, but it’s eerily similar i must agree. Might’ve been a tad too much bite for me on my clip, but I dig it still. Might try the horizon boost next time with it, I’m sure it would kill for this as well, the peppers is ruthless with cut no matter what it’s in front of.

That Colossus has a wicked bite to it. So aggressive and pissed with no harshness whatsoever. My buddy is currently recording an album and mixing a 20th Ecstasy on one guitar and a Colossus on the other with stellar results so far. The Rhodes is bringing the grit and aggression to counter the smooth, dark Bogner and it’s a great combo.

It’s just a phenomenal amp, one of my favorites ever. It’s super thick and huge sounding, but can be cutting with the right pedal like the peppers. It’s quite unique sounding to me, and brings the goods for sure. It’s actually quite a dark amp I think, the 1960BV cab is pretty bright and cutting and more scooped in the low mids big time compared to my recto cab, but the Marshall has been in my iso box for awhile, just too lazy to move it out right now haha. I actually haven’t played the Rhodes through my Mesa cab yet I don’t think, I need to give that a go soon.

Sounds badass!!!!!

I care bro, I care. :D
The second clip also sounds great, but I prefer the first one. It’s more rude and vicious, and it’s got a killer clank to it. Killers both though.
