Not my experience. In my amp in the Plex mode (two gain stages), it sounds really good. Ask Chubtone. He played it in that mode with the PPIMV only 1/3 of the way up and dug it...

Are you using the Lamar mod?

Yes, for sure. I have two amps (including a 12000 series 2 gain stage Metropoulos Marshall clone) with them and I think they sound great.

Steve did you ever try the Rich mod? If so, how does the Lar-Mar compare?

I haven't tried the Lar-Mar, but with the Rich Mod I think the sweet spot was 11:00 or so for me. It sounded very good there. But then it was too damn loud for early morning/late night jamming. Would be fine for gigs though. I would run a hotplate with it most of the time.

Hey whatever works is cool with me! I just get a bit frustrated with all the people who say they suck when I know that isn't the case. Many times they haven't even tried a properly implemented LarMar. Sorry if I got a bit cranky with anyone...

I like the Lar-Mar in my '69 spec Metro but truth be told when you crank that bad boy,you hear what you're missing with it. Thankfully I'm in a Motorhead tribute and I get to crank the piss out of it.

im just messin. I had one in a 1959 clone and I did not like it at all. but Im a higher gain guy. For two gain stages I just prefer the crankage. nothing beats volume in a big garage.

That would be me saying they suck!!! I also think Almond Joy, mayo, vinegar, bud and bud light all suck too.
