Does anyone know what AMP Rich Ward used on the last Fozzy record. I love that tone.

Just always have been a fan of his work from the Mojo era. I personally thing hes a great guitar player with a good tone. I knew he used a JCM 800 years ago when we played with them but I was not sure about now.
 
He had a Laney deal for a while but he always ends up back with his 800. I'm a big fan of his playing
 
He records with a Splawn! Not saying it isn't mixed with an 800 but his old 800 is setting on a repair bench! I've seen him twice on this past tour and he's running stereo with a JVM 410 and a 800 reissue. His live tone is just as good as his recorded tone.

I thought he offed the original 800 a couple years ago? I know it was up for sale at one point.
 
He apparently uses the Laney GL50L and or GH100L too, not sure if he uses those in studio...but I played a GH100L recently and it was crushing on the high gain/drive setting
 
His 800 has a hot mod in it and the eq section was modded by Suhr. Its broke and sitting on Scotts bench at the Splawn shop.

Is it the 82 Duke of Metal one? If it is, that's cool that he's still got it, or got it back. That thing just rips.

No there's a signature amp that I'd buy...
 
yea that was his mainstay up until he bought his first Splawn. Its been on Scotts bench for close to 10 years, all the early Stuck Mojo was recorded with that one and some of the early Fozzy tunes as well. I would also think about it as a signature amp, but a prostock with 6550's will put you close. I know my Splawn modded SLP is right there as well, but still has the marshall thing going on.
 
I was a HUGE fan of Rich's back when he was the duke of metal still, anymore...not quite the same. But none the less I know a ton of stuff about Rich. The amp in question was the famed 'duke of metal' Marshall JCM800 50watter, with a soldano hotmod & 6550 tubes. I believe he owned two of them & I know sold off the first & main one several years back. It bummed me out because I was low on funds when he did & honestly he recorded some of the best tones ever with that amp ESPECIALLY Declaration of a Headhunter. The amp is a real one trick pony, especially with the additional gain stage via the soldano mod...but, when it does that trick so well, do you really care anymore?
As far as the new record Fozzy tones go, I know Rich tracks with a couple marshall jcm800s, including a kerry king 800, a splawn pro mod with 6550s, a couple of Laney heads & a boutique combo amp.
 
Saw Stuck Mojo live, in '96 I think and his tone was off the charts good. If I remember correctly he had a JMP master volume on stage. I remember being told it was Soldano modded but must have just been the Hot Mod.
