What's the low down on this Tele? Is this the one that inspired his signature model? Does anyone have any other photos of it?

LOVE IT.

Cool video, but that is about his signature model. The one in the photo is not his signature version, I believe it was the CS that he received after joining Poison.

Jeez!? Does anyone bother to read the original post anymore?

The guitar in the photo is NOT his signature model. I own his signature model - great guitar.

I was hoping someone might have some info on the guitar in the photo.

Lots of Kotzen fans on RT, I was thinking one of them might have the scoop on this particular axe.

That is all.

I wasn't directing all at you Teleblaster - you were just the third person to post the same info on his signature guitar.

thanks
mike

Wow, what a dick.

Is the one he is holding his sig model?,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

  Sorry, could not resist,,I dunno, thought it might be one of the new Select Series, but dont see that one listed anywhere, straight out of the Custom Shop?? (he probably has a little pull there) Cool looking Tele though, love the neck!

Sorry I thought it is one of his sig models in the picture.
Gold hardware, flame top, looks like it could not be older than '95 when his sig model debuted???

I don't know where that picture is from, or why you think it isn't his signature model, but I found this interview:

http://www.guitarmessenger.com/intervie ... interview/

RK: The pickups I use are made by DiMarzio. Unfortunately, I don’t know the name of the ones in the Strat – I want to say Twang King… I think that’s what it is. Some of my guitars from the Custom Shop had Texas Specials in them, and the guitar that I played on that South American tour is a hybrid guitar, because I had broken the neck. The body is a Custom Shop body, and a Richie Kotzen neck. That original guitar is what they used to copy my model, so when I switched from the signature model to that guitar, you can’t really tell the difference. I mean, I know the difference, but it’s the same instrument. The only thing is, the guitar that I played with the Custom Shop body has the special pickups in it, and I don’t know that they sound any better than the DiMarzios that I have.

I'm a dick because no one was able to even remotely answer my question in my post? I'm sorry - just frustrated that three people in a row missed the whole topic of the post. If 7 people responded without reading the post would I have been entitled to feeling frustrated then?

Teleblaster - it does look like his sig. I think this guitar was the custom shop Tele that he based his signature model on. Just asking, are you sure it was 1995 when his sig went into production? I could have sworn he had it very shortly after the Poison record. Not sure though.

YES - Thank you! I didn't think it was his signature model because of the fret markers on the neck. Other than that, it is extremely similar, although the top is more nicely figured than his standard sig models. Thanks for posting the quote from the interview.

Exactly, the neck looks great! I'd like to replace the one on my Kotzen tele with one similar. It looks more oiled or something compared to the standard sig neck.

The low down is that back in the early 90's Fender Japan approached Richie about custom guitars for him. He told them the specs he wanted and they made him "that" Tele plus a Red stratocaster with the same neck profile. He liked them and after his popularity grew they started making the Tele's available to the public.

"Kotzen is one of the few artists to have two signature model Fender guitars in Japan; a Telecaster and a Stratocaster bearing his name have each been top sellers in Japan since they were introduced in 1995."

From the Fender website:

I know, I want a RK Tele, but haven't been able to find one yet... ;)

I like the red tele he has. Couldnt find a pic, but its the one without a pickguard.
