Thank you Shark Diver for the kind words, but as a matter of fact I asked for a subforum here. ;)

The communication in Rigtalk is different from other forum as we (manufacturers) have a dedicated space where we can put informations (some may call it advertising) the way we want, without spamming the main forum.

I don't want to go on the main forum to advertise for a new endorsed band or a minor update on the products, and I spend too much time already trying to make some technical support in a lot of threads around the world.

In the subforums the information is focused on a brand and a search in it is easy (I guess).

Rig talk since we are here is our main support forum in english, and that won't happen if all the thread are all over the main forum. I think.

This is a "rigtalk specialty" and a big part of the added value (again, from a manufacturer point of view).

That makes sense. It just seems that most people don't see things in the sub forums. There are more Soldano threads in the Main forum here than in the actual Soldano Forum.  I bet if there was a Soldano sub forum there wouldn't be much going on in it.

Far more thorough (and eloquent) than my two liner :D

I think I had too much caffeine.    Always better to say more with less. :)

I usually use the "View active topics" link so I don't miss the sub forum discussions. If you just go to the main forum, you will never see these posts. Next I'll look at the main forum and the subforums I frequent if I haven't been here in a day or more...I usually stop in once a day (at least).

That's exactly what Jerry says to do. He says he doesn't miss stuff that way. I need to try that.

Anyone who runs from a discussion deploying the pre-school "butthurt" tactic gets banned period.

Many men would rejoice while the overall forum IQ would increase 6.5 percent.

I'd like a nice glass of Shiraz please...OK, Yellowtail will do.

revise the Search function, it is absolutely terrible, and I'm sure a lot of people can attest to this

maybe also add feedback system? Sevenstring.org has a fantastic system where you can leave comments for transactions and feedback, just as in eBay, and shows your score under your avatar

those are REALLY great suggestions. love the feedback idea.

the search function could use some tweaking. i dont that if you search once, you have to wait about 20 seconds before searching again...PITA if you search the wrong thing, or not necessarily the wrong thing, but you want to further refine your search.

all in all, i think we should bear in mind that too much micromanaging and tedious adjustments will inevitably make things more complicated. i kinda like the way things float in the main forum that are important,.....not so popular or "important" stuff falls the the wayside but is still searchable.

im drinking southern comfort 100 proof...warm, out of a 1982 mcdonalds collector Pittsburgh Steeler glass. gonna go put a few pickups in a few guitars here shortly.

Ya, as per updating the software, try to get rid of these idiotic bot entries about purses and women's footwear.

Being the cross dresser that I am, I already have my sites I hit up for the flavor of the month. I don't want this interring with my manly amp pursuits.

Just sayin'

So glad the "sticky" threads got cleaned up! Brad is trying and it shows!

Love the place as is. It's a bit slow sometimes, but I like to think most of us who post here actually have lives and back away from the computer every now and then.

I can not comment on the search as I seem to work well with it for the very few times I use it.

As for the feedback system, that would be FANTASTIC. SS.org definitely has a neat system in that category, and I would love to see a similar thing here rather than trying to search on someone on their references, which is not always easy.

A great function I saw on Audiofanzine is a link to the first UNREAD message in a thread you already posted in, rather than a link to the last posted message.

This way you don't have to scroll back in the thread to find where is the last message you read.

I was one of the people awhile back who was fine with their not being an iPhone app, but I've been using the Gearslutz app for awhile now, and if we had something like that, it'd be great. I don't like the "Tapatalk" or whatever shit many forums use now though. Whatever GS is using flows nicely and is easier than opening the browser, although most forum iPhone apps seem more complicated.

Chatroom
Video chatroom for the masses.

It could keep some of the stupid posts down.

I disagree with dividing the classifieds - I check them every day and almost never have to go more than halfway through the second page to see anything new, especially since the economy tanked. There are clear dividing lines for things like amps, guitars and pedals, but there are other things that would be sold so infrequently that you would have to have a "Miscellaneous". It would be difficult to decide what level of granularity to choose for separating the items for sale. And, I'd be willing to be that people would miss out on sales and purchases because things were in the wrong area (and mods would be more busy moving things). Kind of like the current "EU" section - I see stuff for sale in the EU posted in the main classifieds all the time. There would always be people that would tend to post things where they think they can get the most views, regardless of where they should go...

I like it the way it is, but that's my .02 - and I can get along with whatever makes sense for the masses

Def think putting separate categories in the classifieds is a great idea. Would make it easier look for specific items much faster.

And I also agree that the search function is kinda lack luster and sometimes not easy

I think we should have an epic bikini thread

While I kind of like the idea of splitting the classifieds up to sub categories for just looking for a specific items, I also like having everything in one place, as sometimes I like to browse the classifieds and its nice to have everything in one place. On TGP I only search in the classifieds, I never browse as its broken up too much for just random browsing for my tastes.

when all the good suggestions are put into effect, can the logo change? it's kinda like early 2000s stock clip art.

Need to put Peavey Amps on the amp manufacturers section.
