Rio Grande pickups, any comments?

If you go with the Aldrich I recommend putting in a push-pull pot for the tone so you can split the pickup. I love the Aldrich split, highly worth it.

My 2 BBQ's are 2 conductor so I have never tried splitting them.
 
I did like my BBQ in my LP quite a bit, but I recently put a Motor City Torque in there and am extremely pleased. Clarity, yet not harsh at all and cleans up really well with the volume knob. Rocks hard too.

While the Aldrich is hot, it is the most dynamic hot PAF type humbucker I've ever used. You can back off on your attack and it softens up a bit unlike most ceramic magnate pickups. But what I like about it the most is that it has a fairly even eq response. No drastic peaks or valleys. I've been a chronic pickup swapper all of my career and it's certainly been a major winner for me.

They sound great in an alder Strat. I had one in mine before I put in the Aldrich, and I MIGHT tip in the direction of the BBQ....
 
jaybird.. i wouldnt recco the aldrich unless youre playing heavy rock. for all other applications i would HIGHLY reccommend a set of bareknuckle crawlers. i like them more than the aldrichs (never thought id say that) and they cut through a live mix exceptionally well. this would be the pickup id reccommend for your rig.

My Gutierrez is:

Wenge neck through
Maple wings
Ebony fingerboard
Aldrich bridge
Suhr DSV neck


It seems like your guitar will have a similarly "chunky", but serious tone.

I wouldn't want anything BUT the Aldrich in there. The clarity, and dynamic range still blows me away.

Get an Aldrich. :rock:
