I heard the news this morning on the way to work. What a great loss of music. Gary was one of my favorite players. His phrasing was truly amazing. I didn't discover him until the early 90s, when Still Got the lues camer out. I soaked up everything he did as soon as I could pick it up. He ewas a bigg influence on my playing. I feel a very hollow feeling in my gut this morning. I think I will have to pull out some CDs when I get home tonight.

I'm still in shock and crushed. He was huge influence on my playing.
He played with such fire, aggression, and passion - he would strangle the s**t out of whatever he was playing (Strat or LP), and just commanded it - make it purr or scream for mercy.

RIP Gary - I hope you are up there tearing it up with Phil and Cozy...

After Lynch, Gary was one of my main idols in the mid 80's....I played the hell out of my "Victims of the Future" tape. At my high school battle of the bands, I did a solo and just played the "Shapes of Things" solo, minds were blown with the g string hammerons ...one of my alltime favorite solos.

Gary Moore has always been a favorite of mine and I have loved his style and phrasing from the first time I heard him play .

This truly is a very sad day and he will be missed !

A friend of mine is in a Lizzy tribute band. He eats, sleeps, and lives Lizzy. He turned me on to Gary 25 years ago and it was one of those 'Holy Shit!!!' moments. When I read the news, I called him because I felt like someone close to us or someone we played with died. Gary was a connection to a place and time in the past for us that was brought back up.

A monster player that will be missed. I'll raise a glass of Guinness in his honor tonight.
