help?

I literally started ripping out the felt/tolex. It's stuck half-way (depth-wise) and I have never seen this happen nor know what to do other than saw the headshell open.

It's stuck b/c there's not enough room to clear between the top and bottom of the wood that is the clearance to place the chassis. I added the nuts to the top of the chassis so the bolts thru the top of the headshell would screw into and hold (the nuts were missing before so the chassis would move around a little freely in the headshell).

A $2700 head, the S120, can't believe this....

YIKES! If you bought it new take it back. That's complete bullshit. Sorry to hear about that. You could also try calling them directly and asking them for advice. I've spoken to Paul Jr. a few times when I bought my TBR5 and he has always been very patient and thorough. Good luck and again sorry to hear about that.

EDIT-Here's the number for the shop. 818.767.4600

Sorry about the hassle but....I think I understand what your story says and sounds like with the addition of those nuts or whatever you added..The chassis was mashed in between the bottom of the headshell and the chassis support panels on the inside sidewalls of the headshell.....Ya can get em in but...ya can't get em out

exactly! it works fine now, I dropped it from a 2 foot ledge in my garage and those chassis support panels broke, thus making the chassis removeable. landed flat on its bottom!

Yeah..I was going to suggest removing one of those panels but after seeing your pics......Thought well....too late..

Somebody get me up to speed...

This was covered in tolex, and you ripped it off, to get the chassis out? Or is this a chassis re-house in a new headshell?

 very confused.

it's more like felt (carpet like?) not tolex. It's just bare wood now with the plastic ends on the corners.

it's all good now, works fine. only problem now is I tried running the left and right output of my JMP1 into the left and right effects return (it's a stereo power amp) and plugged the output of each side into 8ohm 12" spkrs in my 212 gflex cab.

I only heard sound out of one speaker. Any clue why???

STOP playing right now.

Read the speaker output jacks more closely.

It's not like a VHT where the outside jack on each channel says "Use first"

I think it is actually the left jack of each channel to be used first, but READ CLOSELY. They did a nice job of making it very hard to read on my TBR amps.

there is a use first marking on each side. also, you can run one side with no speaker load on the other (there's a short in the amp that handles no load, I verified and I've done this many times so far, no problems).
