I have a Rivera TBR-3 hammer 120 stereo power amp, I normally run 6550s and have about 3/8s clearance between tubes.

I installed the KT88s and the clearance is really tight like a sheet of paper can pass in between the tubes but that's about it.

My question, is it this safe to run the KT88s with so little clearance.

This is the reason I elected to go with 6550's in my TBR5. The amp can run KT88's no problem. I transport mine quite a bit though and would not want to mess with shattered power tubes. I doubt heat would be an issue.

I feel for you these bad boys weigh a ton

Yeah they do  and the trio of 3rd Power 312's will clock in at about 225lbs. I will be well over 300lbs when this is said and done. :aww:
