I am considering purchasing the mother of all power amps with my tax returns this year.   Before I take the plunge I was wondering if any folks out there are current owners and can reaffirm that I am justified in my research. I am also considering voicing each amp differently with 6550's for one channel and el34's in the other. Due to the fact that each amp is completely independent I shouldn't have an issue right? Any guidance and feedback is welcome and appreciated.

your getting a VHT 2150?????

Dont do it, Had one, hated it.... the Mesa and VHT are much better. If your gonna drop the cash, then go for the gold and get the VHT.

If I can find one for 1k with a warranty sure. Out of curiosity, is it simply the tubes used that you disliked? As an owner of a K-100 I am sold on the brand. What specifically did you not like about it?

Just didnt have the "umph" that the other power amps I've had have. FWIW, I LOVE the TBR1-Sl and TBR2-SL, I dig Riveras amps, but those power amps, are seriously lacking. Why so worried about the warranty? Hell get the VHT and you wont have to worry about it, they're bullet proof, built like tanks.

Let's just say I've had a 50% failure ratio on ebay. For a grand my shit better be insured and professionally packed and shipped. What does a 2150 run new?

I'm not sure on list price, I know used they go for around a grand. Or you could look at the 2/90/2 they go for around a grand as well, or the 2/50/2 for $700. All used though. The new prices on the 2/90/2 are around $1500, and 2/50/2 $1200.....I think.

Pretty crazy how much they go for new vs used. I'm an ebay junkie but it seems that for music gear it's a minefield. 50% failure rate is pitiful. I won't buy from a seller w/out 100% feedback anymore no matter how many transactions. Ugh, maybe I should get my Egnater M4 instead and holdout. Oh and that photo looks like one of my ex's who is it?

you have an ex that looks like her?????????? pics or it didnt happen.

alexandra sim-wise :D

Go for the M4 and 2/50/2......PERFECTION!

Damn me for deleting and burning them then. I must be a liar. She used to cheer for the Bengals. I hope someone over there gave her the hiv. One can always hope. I was ditched for an 8ball I swear. Stupid skank. I'll follow up on some vht research. Thanks for the info man.

no problem, I'm not biased against Rivera at all, they make some great stuff, but the TBR power amps were really a disappointment. Good luck, FWIW, I know Egnater uses the VHTs to test their M4s with.....

Sorry about the chick.....should've got a ton of pics and posted them up eveywhere.

This is good advice, it's better to spend a little more and get something that is the best than settle. Of course things like this are subjective and you may like the Rivera better they do make quality products.
