New guy here (hello!!!). Looking at potentially trading for a RM100.
But I'm not super familiar with the whole line.

What's the main difference between the Egnater and the Randall?
I know there is a big quality/price difference, but talk to me about anything you know.

Are the Egnater MOD and Randall RM100 modules interchangeable?

Finally, is there a module that would approximate the Rebel 30's gain channel?
I think it's such a great channel for lead AND rhythm.

I don't know all the answers to your questions, but here's the limited information I do know:

The randall and egnater modules are interchangeable, but if you plug an egnater dual channel module into a randall amp you can only use channel A. The good news for you (seeing as I'm guessing you're interested in the RM100) is that you can send the RM100 into egnater and they can modify it to accept their dual channel modules and switch between then. I'd double check with egnater to make sure they are still doing this, but it at least used to be something they offered.

The RM100 is the only randall amp that they can do this for, from what I've asked before the others just do not have enough space to accommodate the extra parts.

As for the differences between the mod100 and rm100, while I've never played either, the mod100 was hand built by Egnater and his team, but it was discontinued even before the modular line was put on hold if I remember correctly? I want to say the randall stuff is made in Asia, but I'm not sure to be honest. I've heard people say they have different output transformers and parts, but I'll let someone who actually knows what they're talking about tackle that one.

I think broknstuff summed it up pretty well . . . the main advantages of Egnater are the dual-channel capability (along with Randall/Egnater single-channel module compatibility), as well as being hand-built here in the USA. Plus I believe even though they may no longer be in production, Bruce still stands behind his hand-built products, and will work on any such product you are having issues with (talk about piece of mind!).

While the rackmount Randall RM4 and Egnater M4 differ in that the Egnater M4 has no loops (and it obviously has the dual-channel capability too), I believe the seies/parallel loop configuration is the same between the RM100 and MOD100 (I could be wrong here).

The only disadvantage one could make about choosing the MOD100 over the RM100 would be the price, as a used MOD100 will most likely cost you a little more than double that of a used RM100.

Also, I was under the impression that the RM100 --> MOD100 conversion is no longer available. Ian could probably chime in here and confirm this though . . .

Thanks guys, keep it coming.

What's the going price for MOD50/100s?

There aren't any MOD100's on eBay (current or completed) to reference, but if I remember correctly a MOD100 head alone will set you back about $1500 empty (no modules), +/- $200 (sorry -that's as close as I can remember). You can usually get it cheaper if you're willing to layout more cash and find one bundled with a few modules. A used MOD50 head, with 2 modules (SL & T/D) and a 2x12 cab just sold on eBay for about $2,120 shipped.

The Randall line and Egnater line do sound slightly different. The components used in the Randall's give their stuff a slightly more aggressive feel and sound. The Egnater amps and modules tend to be smoother and less aggressive. Not saying that they both don't overlap because they do, there are just some differences. It's all the same design, one is (was) handbuilt in US, the other built overseas.
I've owned both. They are all good amps. Just depends on what kind of vibe you're looking for.
