I’m unfamiliar with these . What’s the difference

There's some difference in power tube stuff IIRC

They both have the dreaded "infinite channel switching mute" problem though, always be thorough doing your research about their service history before buying either of these amps

I probably won’t by but confused . They came out together or so . Just weird .

Roadster is essentially a 4-channel Dual MW w/reverb, but since it has the extra channel they shake-up the mode choices vs a standard dual.

Road King is another beast entirely. It has a ton of switchable channel-assignable options for the power section and the speaker outputs.

It was a series one but to be honest the switches didn’t make much difference to me. This is also probably fifteen years ago as well…lol

I think the Road King allows simulclass to mix EL34s and 6L6s and toggle between them. Roadster is just switch between 50W and 100W but couldn't select tube type per channel.

I think that was the main difference?

I thought the Roadster sounded good but the lag between hitting a footswitch and the amp actually responding (with a silent pause in between) was beyond annoying and impractical.

I never tried a RK.

I think this sounds right about the tubes

I think part of the appeal at the time of the Roadster was that it was less fizzy/darker and allegedly tighter than an average Recto.

I think the RK power section uses "progressive linkage" to blend tube types.
Simuclass was their way to blend class a/b iirc, like in the mark series.

Well I’m happy with my Hermansom Recto . I just was ignorant about these 2
I'm actually considering picking up a Roadster for Hermanson to mod (assuming that he will mod a Roadster)

You got to ask. That’s might have too much bullshit inside. I’ve yet to see him buy one. Just get a cheap 3 channel and he will design it to your exact needs

Yeah...I understand its a complex amp...I just like the 4 channels. does he have a handle here at the board?

Road King II V2 - Progressive Linkage, Split Speaker selection, slave-able and all the bells and whistles...

I have a Roadster. Cool amp lots of tonal choices from clean to mean. Not as brutal as a dual but can get close. Unless your into ultra heavy metal channel 4 good without boost.
Never had RK but it seems V2 is more sought after.
