Pretty cool you can use your guitar. Don't need the game part, would love to see this stuff made more for tutoring.

Now, all my friends are in trouble

Every time I used to play YYZ on Guitar Hero, I would always lose in the first few seconds. I can own that song in real life... the heat is on :gethim:

Looks cool but I wonder how it will sell overall. I'm not sure the general public wants to put in the time required to actually learn how to play. Not when they can just press brightly colored buttons and make the sounds come out on that other game. I could be wrong, though. Plus, obviously not everyone has a guitar laying around. So thats going to make the game relatively expensive.

There is a version that comes with an Epiphone Les Paul Special.

for 199, it is a real guitar that isn't a Starcaster...

Only Caveat to the game, is if your system is HDMI only, you will need to break out the audio to an analog connection to get the latency under control. There is a slight beat between your hitting the string and the sound. But otherwise, it is great.

This will do nothing to stop people from buying guitars and thinking they are going to learn them, to just sitting them in the corner and doing nothing with them. Personally, I couldn't play following a bouncing ball or a fretboard that lights up with every chord like the guitar hero games do. It would drive me crazy... what is wrong with good ol tabs??

Tabs don't give achievements

I remember the same reaction from people who use sheet music to tab years ago. :) Nothing is wrong with any of it....

Looks cool, I just don't fully understand how it works. It gives a fret number and string? Basically tabs but your guitar is plugged in to judge accuracy? Pretty cool if that's the case. Don't know if it'd get too many people to pick up playing but it'd be a cool tool for those who already know how to play. I'm interested.

I have to assume it's based on pitch? Not sure what the +/- cents variations are, but it seems to me, you'll have to have a proper guitar with killer intonation to "pwn" at this game. Maybe I'm wrong, but the frustration videos that'd pop up on youtube would be awesome!

that pretty much settles it

drew, it is actually pretty sweet. I am working on taking care of the latency issue by breaking out the audio off the HDMI, but it does a good job of teaching fundamental techniques. I just wish it had a way to teach more theory.

see you tonight bro!
