Back in 2002 we were opening the main stage at Rock Fest in Cadott Wi...Starship was the band on after us. Pretty sure it was Mark playing for them back then..nice guy and was setting up his rig while I broke mine down. He started warming up and played a little VH riffage...sounded killer and he was using a Line 6 Vetta..swear to god..at least that was part of his rig. Anyway he was very cool to talk to for a brief moment.. RIP

Most of the sound and tone that was in Mark's clips was HIM, it wasn't the amp. He posted clips of a dead-on VH tone with an amp that he sold. The guy who bought the amp laid down some clips, and while it still sounded good, it was nowhere near that VH tone that Mark was getting, not even close.
Mark posted a clip one time of him through a Line6 direct in a hotel room when he was bored...it still sounded like his modded amps.
Yeah, I just picked that Line6 up for $10K. Now I sound like EVH!

Steve
Wish he would have posted his settings. :D

Naw, not really. I actually would have no interest. It's the player and I will not argue it.
I've gotten on other guitarists rigs and I sound like me and they sound like them. I'm sure you know that whole thing.

No different from trumpet players picking up the same trumpet....there will be big differences...and it's not in the actual instrument.

His amp is really cool guys. . I don't sound like Van Halen at all but if someone plays like Van Halen , they'll sound like the real deal thru the Rockstah mod. Mark was a great guitarist. He was the guitarist in Jefferson Starship. MANY of you on this forum are great guitarists... Many of you guys I've heard play blow me away . .I play in barbands in Vermont , and have for over 30 years now . I have no problem putting together bands, no problem getting hired for gigs ,etc but so many guys here are way better guitarists than me. . With that said, I'm an amp addict , and love all the different nuances of different amps.. The Rockstah mod is absolutely great. . The guy I bought mine from (thru this forum I think) had all kinds of clips of him playing it posted, and he sounded great thru it . . I'm not a clip guy , but will definitely vouch for the amp. . I don't think any 1 channel amp ever is worth more than 1500.00 though . If something is old and rare, yes values go up .. But this is a 'mod' of a Marshall and according to some guys on this thread, it's easy and they can do it themselves. . That might or might not be true. If it's true, they should do it and sell amps, as this is a great Marshall version. By no means though is it worth 10K.. OK , I've jabbered on enough , and now I have a pretty woman on Facebook wanting to talk , so BYE :) Eric

Brad,

Can this thread be stickied? It's so rich with commentary and amusement.

Lol srsly? It costs $25,000 to get a replica of one of his guitars from Fender, not even made by him or used by him!

Yeah you're right..no chance anything Ed sells goes that cheap...there was a beat to hell JMP that was bought off the WASP guitar player, with a letter from him that said HE bought it from Ed back in the 70's..I think it sold for 3K? Of course that wasn't from Ed himself..and who really knows anyway..

didn't one sell here for like 1100 back in the summer?
I sold my Peacemaker for $1100 to a guy here. To me that's a fair price and about what I feel it was worth. I'm not a money hungry kinda guy tho.

Whoa, I didn't know Chris Holmes and King Edward were that tight, how did that happen? Wasn't Ed's "Shark" cut from a Destroyer he "borrowed" from Holmes?
