howdy....just wondering if anyone has had any experience or exposure to the Rocktron Patchmate 8?

http://www.rocktron.com/products/contro ... mateloop8/

i know this question insnt exactly about a Diezel, but ill be using the loop/switcher with a VH4 so i guess its somewhat related :) im in the throws of re-building my pedal board and the more i dig into the project the more i realise how impractical it is going to be carrying around a massive trailer trash board stacked full of pedals. i think racking them up and using a couple of loop/switchers and a midi foot controller is probably going to be the best way to go, albeit the most expensive. ive looked at the RJM, Voodoo Labs & CAE stuff but its just way too pricey for me down here in NZ. The Rocktron Patchmate 8 (the new version of the original Patchmate) seems like a cheaper alternative but im concerned about the quality....i guess you get what you pay for at the end of the day but im hoping someone will be able to give me the inside scoop on Rocktron products in general and hopefully the Patchmate 8 specificially?

Cheers!! :)

I have been in contact with rocktron today about this, big downer is that you have to wire each loop together

sorry for the noob question but what do you mean "wire each loop together" ??

on normal loopers they are internally wired, you actually have to go from each loop out to the next loop in, if you are using high end cables that is easily $100 just wiring each loop to the next loop

but arent all the rack mount loop/switchers like that? RJM Effects Gizzmo, Voodoo Labs GCX Switcher etc....they all seem to need "external" cables to "patch" each loop? or am i missing something here! lol

oh right i see what you mean. i would probably need 2 switchers cause i have about 16 pedals that i use which means i would probably have HEAPS of patch cables to make. i guess those Lava cable kits are pretty decent quality for the price. i just wonder if the Rocktron stuff is any good?

compared to a Voodoo Labs GCX for example.....they are about the same price on Ebay

Hi kloppsta
had the loop8 and was VERY disappointed with it because it generated significant background noise and "clicking"/"popping" switching noise (I checked all my cables, they were ok! and expensive! tried alternative ac-power also).
Stay away from this crappy thing an go for a G-lab switcher - same price and much better soundquality imho. (got no exp with voodoolab, might be good units, too)

cheers!
