Rocktron Xpression Vs. TC Electronic G-Major 2

So which one has higher quality effects and best tone?

G Major 2 hands down....but my favorite is still the Lexicon MPXG2...

I setup a rig for a friend w/ 2 G Major 2's (one in the series loop of his Egnater Mod50, and the other in his parallel loop). And it is just plain heavenly.

Stay away from the Xpression! It sucks big time. The implementation of delay/reverb spillover is a joke and the effects quality is much below that of the Intellifex/Intelliverb. It freezes once in a while. Even the old Replifex is better.

I'm planing on getting an Amp Gizmo and one of these multi effects units to go with my Titan head.

What I'd like to do is have a MIDI controller foot-switch, and be able to switch amp channels and presets to match on the effects unit.

For example:

MIDI 1 = Clean amp channel + Reverb and Chorus Patch.

MIDI 2 = OD amp channel with the effects unit bypassed.

MIDI 3 = OD amp channel + Delay and Chorus Patch.

Is this possible with either of these units?

btw, I'm new to MIDI.

I believe the G major will switch your amp so you would not need the gizmo. The Xpression will not. I have the Xpression and Its not a bad unit at all. Not sure why the other guy was bashing it.

For some stupid reason I was thinking that the Titan used a mini-din type foot-switch connection, but it does use the standard plug so I think you're right!

Maybe Yek can shed some light on his statements...

I've owned both but not at the same time.
The G-major 2 has better effects but the xpression has better tone.
I love TC chorus and delay but the dry signal still goes through A/D/A conversion.
The dry signal on the xpression stays analog.

Haven't tried the Xpression, but was very happy with the G-Major. Would still own one if I didn't get the Axe - the bang-for-buck ratio is ridiculous.

Well, I used an Intellifex for about 10 years. When the Xpression came out, I figured that it had to be better because it was the new thing from Rocktron. Nope, Intellifex was way better. That being said, I got a GM2 last week and I love it more than any rack fx unit I have tried. So, by that logic:

GM2 > Xpression (by a fuckload!)

four cable method is cool, effects are pretty good, digitech usuals, no patch lag, not very bad in the tone sucking department, XLR outputs but the preamp section blows.
