Been fiddling with both… honestly after a number of months with both; I really enjoy the Roland better (single unit utility only). I have used the lexicon and it sounds great but there is greatness from the SDE3000 as well; and it appears to be slightly easier to manipulate ? Thoughts? Oddly, as well, and maybe this is why I am coming to this conclusion; the lexicon pulls a bit of tone from my moded Mesa D180. Didn’t get that response from the Soldano poweramp and Caswell.

I had a PCM 80; at the same time as an SDE 3000. I preferred the color the SD adds vs the PCM. Sold the PCM. Both are great but went with an additional SDE for the true stereo split.
I did pick up a Lex MPX 1; doesn't have the same clarity as the PCM but it's much cheaper and the effects are still very good...has the great Reverb and a Detune preset that's cool.

I have an SDE 3000 and I run a WET/DRY rig with some drry on the wet...I was looking for a PCM 80 for delay and maybe some verb...
I cannot say that I love the SDE...it certainly has a big mellow sound too it...maybe too mellow and has tons of headroom...
It does change the tone...and the bypass button f up the signal if engaged...

I’d like to try an SDE still. But when it comes to rack processors, I always mix effects in parallel. The PCM80 is a terrific and flexible machine. Outstanding reverbs, delays, and modulation. Not as polished or hi-fi sounding as an Eventide to my ears.

The 80 overall is a good unit but definitely isnt user friendly to dial in fast. As far as sound goes, (and I know it has been debated a million times}, my 70 sounds much better using the same algos than my 80. A 42 along with the SDE would sound glorious! I dont have it racked atm but I doubt I would get rid of my 42. Very good sounding delay.

The SDE delay just sounds really good to me when engaged in my solos as a doubling effect.
Maybe rid the pcm 80 and go for the eventide H90. Idk. I prolly need to screw with the lexicon a bit more before I say fuccit

I haven’t played an SDE but I do own an 81 for reverbs and chorus/detune. For delays I’ve always used a damage control timeline.
