Dio is amazing, I really loved him in Sabbath and Blackmores Rainbow.

Funny story about Dio,
before a soundcheck at a concert one
of the roadies thought it would be funny
to put a kickdrum mic center stage.
Dio flipped his lid, some people got fired that day.
True story....

Yikes! Thats harsh. That must have been the same day Ronnie heard the Gene Simmons claimed he created the  hand gesture... so he must have extra pissed that day. :D

if you flip over the dio logo it says "devil"...what's cooler than that?

:D

Granted, I only have a surface knowledge of Dio songs. But why is this guy always mentioned as one of the greats? Point me to something that has him shine.

For me, the heyday of RJD was the 80s. I love the Dio Sabbath (Dehumanizer was admittedly kinda lame) especially Mob Rules and Holy Diver is darn fine too. Some guys might reach back to Rainbow, but not really my thing.

It took me a really long time to accept Dio. One day pne of my friends insisted I listen to Mob Rules and that opened the door. I dig the hell out of his twist of phrase. One of the reasons I like Corey Taylor's lyrics. He's a total Dio deciple.

"play with fire, you'll burn your fingers and loose a hold of the flame"
"between the velvet lies, there's a truth as hard as steel"

I donno man. That just appeals to me.

Star Struck, Long Live Rock n Roll, classic Dio! I'm not into all his dungeons and draggons stuff, but the straight-ahead rock/ metal tunes are awesome.
