Ok....I can dial in my amps to sound balls out insanely the most brutall metal tones ever heard in my room.....but when I try and record them they usually don't sound good, so I have to dial them in so that the mic makes them sound ok in the recording.

Knowing that.....does that mean that my awesome tones that I can dial in will sound like crap at every gig?
I mean all the sound guy does is stick a mic in front of the cab just like i do.....so,
should I use my "recording" settings at gigs?

Makes me wonder if a Torpedo Live would be a good investment for gigs?

All good suggestions..especially the less bass. That is what your bass player is for! The Live is awesome for gigs. The thing about it is that you can tweak the high and low end out of the live very easily to send to the board and you can keep your tone from your amp the way you like it. I use mine always. I'm actually looking at upgrading to the Torpedo Studio.

Less bass and gain is the norm...
Yup. Especially lower gain. What you like in front of you can translate into a bad recording. Try almost classic rock gain levels to record..when you listen back you'll be surprised how gainy it is. But live I can run just like I set up at home, sounds good on stage and when I wander in front of the PA.

This is for sure, an interesting thread, esp when you factor in the "everything sounds like shit" today variable.
