cant wait to pick her up at brent's house!! thanks for everything mike...i mean everything. and uber thanks to brent for building me something i could not get dean or washburn to do. looks like i found what/who i was looking for. no more 6-8 month build times. EVERYTHING i wanted....no more "we can't do that right now." or "we can do this, but not that."

the funny thing is i have known mike for a long time. he never mentioned to me anything about brent until one day we were talking about amps as i drove though amarillo (i called him as i drove by his house). i asked him what amp he was diggin on, and he mentioned the marshall sl-x brent had modded for him. eventually, after i scored said marshall from mike, he hooked me up with brent and got me onto this forum (where all the good gear is). i went out to brent's place in phoenix with my favorite dean, and he took some specs and a plastic molding of the neck profile. i can honestly say that brent is the kinda guy anyone would love to sit and talk to for freaking hours on end....much like mike. warm, passionate about guitars and music, just way cool.

they say that if your looking for love, you will grasp at anything. but if you stop looking for it, it will fall in your lap. guess i can say the same thing for guitar builders. i have had some major frustrations getting customs built, but GAWD DAMN if this one was as easy as a drunken sorority chick.

next up? either an exotic top (maybe burled redwood or walnut) or custom paint from mike learn.

thanks again to mike and brent. see you both soon.

  No sweat man.... was a pleasure.

Your not getting another one until I do... :p

Corpse, that is super sweet. Maybe you can bring it down in Feb?

oh yes, brad. it will be there for you to fondle in feb. :D

first rounds on me thursday.

i can't begin to think of money that was better spent. i got a powerball for 1200, great deal. i scored a usa custom shop dean built to my specs with a flamed redwood top for an unbeatable price. i traded a repaired les paul custom i got for $600 for a usa washburn slime. but nothing beats this guitar. though i keep pretty much everything i buy, i am considering selling off some of the ones that don't get played anymore to fund more stuff from brent.

looking at her now as i type this. wishing i was home in front of the big amp rig and plugging her in...though brent's modded jcm800 was a great taste of what i can expect when i get home.

been playing a bunch of new riffs all day. stuff i've been listening to, but have not thought to learn when i get home. the neck just makes me wanna slide all over the place. bends are effortless. it harmonics so loud i can hear it over the truck idle. really wish i had grabbed my portable amp for the truck before i came out here.

mmmm.....nitro finish!!! dark mahogony. fit and finish is superb. unfinished neck makes corpsey a happy camper.

it's the little things that make it perfect. he used a high end switch for the kill switch (pickup selector) instead of the typical ones everyone else uses. it's way better, more sturdy, and dead nuts silent. the stainless steel fret work is amazing. the floyd upgrades big block? why the hell have i not tried this before? O.M.G!!!....finally a battery box instead of having to open the control cavity. the brass plates in the cavities. the neck is like a brick wall, un-moveable. no matter how hard i lean on it it barely flexes....just like i always wanted. it's just one thing after another....

though brent is now booked solid till after NAMM, i am putting my next down payment in november to get first on the list for another one starting in febuary. screw you juggernaut, he likes me better than he likes you anyway.  i don't care what you have on me, mike....i have plausable deniability.

i have a burled redwood top sitting, just waiting to be used. i guess that's what going on my next gutierrez guitar.

unbeatable price, unbeatable guitar, great guy to know and hang with....all from the advise of a great friend. thanks mike.

No problem Martin, glad you like it, can't wait to see what you go for next... ;)

Absolutely SICK looking guitar. The simplicity adds to the look.
Been looking at a custom soon and now I have a second option. Maybe i can get cash together for 2.

Martin is a lucky guy. I can only guess how his redwood plays as i have a custom from the guy that built it, and he raves about this even more.

I have played one of Martins custom Deans and if this one plays and feels as good as he says I think I am saving for Brent instead of an ML.

Damn, that is awesome looking. Nice score. I have heard great things about Gutierrez but have yet to try one in person.
